So the nominees for the videogame BAFTAs this year have been announced in each category:

http://www.bafta.org/awards/video-games/video-games-awards-nominees-in-2010,1656,BA.html

What shocks me is why Red Dead Redemption does not feature in any of the categories apart from the GAME user-choice award. I mean, I would have at least expected it to appear in one of the 15 main BAFTA-judged categories...

Thoughts?

I personally didn't like red dead one bit. I couldn't go more than 10 minutes without the game crashing (even with all patches) or wolves teleporting around or falling through the ground or ENTIRE MISSIONS VANISHING!!!

How is Blops nominated for technical innovation and story? Same game every year, different guns...

Personally, I wasn't suprised about Assassins Creed in most catagories.

Black Ops is an artistic achievement? What shitty art have people been seeing?

On a related topic is anyone going to watch on March 16th? I'll be playing Dragon Age 2 instead.

LOL, Fallout New Vegas is in the Strategy section? Shows how significant these awards really are...

I hope Reach wins a lot because I think it's my favourite game that came out this year, except for New Vegas... but then that probably doesn't deserve any of the things it's nominated for, "strategy" and "story" because although I did LOVE the world of New Vegas I don't think that counts for much in terms of story which is essentially JUST hunt down the people who shot you and then pick a faction to win. Everything that branches off from that linear path I'm not sure counts as "story" so... yeah, it won't win shit.

from what I understand Rock Star didn't put Red Dead Redemption forward for consideration. That's how it works for the BAFTA's the production company (for films) or the games studio (for games) has to enter there work for the awards (apart from the players choice which is based on sales and then we get to vote)

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood wasn't a bad game, but it seems weird how it's in like almost every category. I mean wow, it wasn't that good lol...

The reason Red Dead wasn't nominated for any of the main awards was because Rockstar decided not to put it forward for consideration

Strange decision imo but it's their choice I suppose

EDIT: Ninja'd 2 posts up

Perhaps the Rockstar-lauding Hive Mind has finally split.
