There are a lot of things I could think to say here. And every single one of them are so blatantly misogynistic, so full of hate and rage that this imbecile gets media time to corrupt the discourse with her idiot viewers/readers, and so patently offensive to women in general that I can't share a single one of them.

Except maybe "You say video games cause sexual violence? How about a cup of McLawsuit Hot Coffee...poured on your crotch? Now go back to your village and let the grown-ups talk, idiot."

I can't really make up my mind about this. One hand, I like to believe that sinking down to someone's level isn't a mature way of dealing with things. On the other, lord knows this woman deserves what she's put through, and I certainly hope her sales figures suffer badly. It's quite clear she has either has no idea what she's talking about, or peddles in sensationalist BS. Or both, the two are not mutually exclusive.

With all that said, this review made me snigger:
Reading this book makes you Hitler
Adolf Hitler read books. This is a book. Therefore reading this book will cause you to kill 12 million people. There are thousands of studies proving this statement look them up.
Story checks out.

It's kind of immature of people to Amazonbomb her like this.

But on the other hand:

'Bad Girls' will have a devastating influence on the youth of the world. Children as young as 9-years-old are being exposed to this text.

I can state with certainty that any increase in crime rate that may have been noted near your hometown can be attributed in large part to the authorship of this book.

That was pretty funny.
I think it's immature of her to completely cast down a game with illogical ideas like 'it will cause rape', so this is a pretty logical response, is it not?
My point is that we don't have to stoop to her level.

Ah, when we nerds get pissed off we can do some awesome things every now and then.
Though they should've seen this coming, same thing happened when Mass Effect was called a "rape simulator" about 3 years ago.
it works both ways, i remember ME2 being amazon bombed for it's invasive DRM

also, i vaguely remember a statistic saying rapes have been going down over the past decade or so?

First off there is a difference between calling someone a dickhead, asshat, or moron, and calling them a rapist, or child molester, a vast difference.

Second, she said that games are responsible for a non-existent increase in rape, therefore implying that gamers are rapists, I'm a gamer, hence I'm offended at being called a rapist.

Thirdly I loath violence, it is never my first response, however unlike some people I understand that sometimes violence is the answer, it can be used to demonstrate a point, that you are not to be fucked with. The modern idea that violence never solves anything is stupid, it works fine, it shows people there is repercussions to actions, i.e be a jerk and get a sore jaw.
No one is denouncing all violence, but punching someone out because they called you a name, regardless of how vile it might be, is a reactionary, childish response. That you think it to be appropriate is amusing, but ultimately immature, though I doubt we'll agree on that point. And you obviously can't loathe violence that much if it is your first response to being called a bad name. Honestly.

And again, she didn't call you personally a rapist. She implied that there was a casual link between video game playing an an increase in rape. While what she said was obviously foolish and somewhat offensive (though personally, I don't get generally get worked up when people call me names, I guess I'm kind of an adult like that) she didn't go and say "all gamers are rapists". Grow up man, and stop being offended by the people on Fox News. No one in their right mind takes them seriously anyway.

fox "news" is the most watched news network in the US, i'd say wayyyy too many people already take them seriously

also, interesting fact: fox news viewers THINK they're the most informed group of the populace when in fact they are the least informed group

I love Amazon.
My favorite Quote:

This book was full of nonsense and easily detectable misspellings and punctuation errors. I thought it was a joke at first like maybe it was trying to be funny in it's presentation but I could not ignore the problems beyond the first 5 pages. I would assume that this is a book that is self published and the author must have provided her own editing. In terms of the message presented, the author would seem to pass off mere speculation and hyperbole as fact. I don't see an ounce of evidence to suggest she is even a licensed physician to make the connections she posits in her writing. I would highly recommend you do yourself a favor and spend the 10 dollars this book costs and buy yourself a box of fortune cookies instead. At least you will get a message from the cookies that might ave a lasting positive impact on your life instead of this dribble.

excellent

i also agree with another poster (way too lazy to find them) that reading this book is much more likely to make a man angry (i personally wouldn't rape anyone but i hate being manipulated) to the point where he would commit some violent crime against women. This book is much more likely to increase the rape rate than a videogame

Ironically enough, reading her book is much more likely to cause a man to act violently toward women than any videogame.

She's supposed to be a psychologist, doesn't she realise that passive aggressive manipulation is one of the things that enrage men the most?
except she's not a psychologist, she's a psychiatrist and therefore has no actual scientific background to back up her viewpoints

Good job to everyone that did that to her, honestly it's very annoying when someone goes off and makes assumptions like that and think that there won't be any consequences from slander.

I'm not gonna lie, that picture of her is not flattering. That's probably why it was chosen.

Man she looks like a *****.

She deserves the one star rating fro making this kind of crap up. It pisses me off, people attacking gaming because it's an a easy target and a misinformed public sill eat it up.

Well I guess we can take that book as a confession of how she really made it into the public light.
(Grins) It does show an ugly side of her, doesn't it? Then again, just look at that photo. There is a woman clawing desperately for attention. Talk about non-verbal language.

Once again you are suggesting that this is Fox's opinion when they actually gave both sides. You are pathetic Chalk.

So wait, this woman who thinks video games makes people into rapists is selling a book that recommends that women become more sexually manipulative? Somehow I think she might have gotten her wires crossed on this one...

SO she writes a book about teasing sex and never putting out as a form of control...

But that'll never get you sexually assaulted... no no no.

GAMES on the other hand...

I'm not so sure, they have no hesitation in slandering the entire gaming community, these people... perhaps we do have to fight on the same frequency, they don't seem to get it otherwise.
