Because most games studios are American and prefere to show America winning in their games.

But then again, most of country's game studios dont like to advertise their country's biggest millitary failure as their next big seller.

[Edit]
Also there are a few games set in Vietnam (most have already been said)

I swear there have been loads, can only think of Black Ops and Battlefield though...

Plus it's Vietnam, as in one word isn't it?

(sorry viet nam is probably spelled rong)
Heh heh.

It is btw.

OP: Mostly because a lot of games are made in US and they didn't do well in the war and did a lot of bad stuff there so they try to ignore it.

There have been a few games based there though and they've been pretty good, I hope that more games are made in the setting because I really like it.

Ahh... Vietnam, proof that the US is not unbeatable.

Its not that companies prefer to, its that the US does.
The US has a HUGE share in the gaming market,do the math.

Cause, you know, War records are all that matters in the world.

OT: In reality, it is kind of a bland gameplay mechanic to have something take place almost entirely in the Jungle. There was a good deal of Vietnam games during the PS2 era, but they kinda sorta sucked.

Yeah, I edited it like a second after I posted. Now it says:
"Because most games studios are American"

how come there are no games set in viet nam,
Vietnam games:
Battlefield: Vietnam
Viet Cong (and sequels)
Men of Valor
Shell Shock: 'Nam 69

There's been a few, but it's basically unpopular because America was the bad guy and America lost, humiliatingly. Selling a game based on it to the US audience is tough because nobody wants to be reminded of those two rather embaressing and uncomfortable facts.

Which is a shame, because like Korea it hit a sort of mid point between World War 2 and the smaller scale wars that happen now. It has bags of gameplay potential but you will never sell it to the US mainstream.
