I thought it would be interesting to hear peoples stories of mugging-intervention or other crime-foilery. Especially to analyse how one reacted and how you would act today.

I will begin, it was one summer two/three years ago. . .

I worked as a youth-camp-leader, I and a group of others were to buy some food for lunch. I (17) another youth-leader(17) and one of the groundskeepers a ex-pro vrestler drove in a used van to the local supermarket.

Once we hauled the bags of pirogies into the van we saw something odd in the rear window. There was a large crowd in the parking lot, just outside the entrance. I remember seeing a particular person standing with their arms thrown up into the air as in disbelief. Then as we drove up to the main road there we saw two figures bent double on their bikes.

Ha! that must have been a robbery we joked, "lets follow them!" my collegue said then, after a while we saw the black hoods over their faces. We changed course and drove after them in the van following them to a side road close to a pedestrian trail. It was exciting as we got close and could see them really try to put their backs into it. Then we rammed our van into one of the robbers pinning his bike against a brick wall.

The man dropped from the bike, ran and left the bag in his wake as we stoped our van. we split the ex wrestler running after the one on the bike and us two left taking of after the one on foot. The moment we stoped I was like a bundle of compressed energy and I sprinted as I have not done before.

Here comes the strange part; I am a non violent guy and I am also calm in stressful situations but when I was taking of I began laughing as I ran. I was laughing louder and louder the closer i got, it was an evil moahahah one too. I wanted to pounce the guy to pin him and pound him into uncounciousness. That was why when he stopped, turned and held his hand behind his back, I DID NOT STOP. I registered the threatening pose and slowed but I still had momentum and still I was so furious I did not care. Luckely enough my other collegue called to me to stop, I did and the guy ran of.

Turns out my collegue said that the guy had said "I am going to kill you all" when he turned around, but I did not hear that (I think it was his nerves).
Later I heard that the jewelers store had been robbed by two men with an axe wich they used to break open the display cases with the jewellery. If that guy had that axe and would have hit me, i would be dead.

. . .So thats my story, The strange thing is the laughing part. One might think I almost found it fun. . ..
P.S
While I am usually calm and gentle I have been in fights and stuff like that and done some martial arts. I am 1 metre and 95 cm tall so I were and am atleast physicaly fit ^^.

Now I was quite shocked afterwards. . . . .

I congratulate you sir. I think I'll just start feeling inadequate as I re-read your story. Don't think I've done anything like that really.

I hope you wont have to.The moments after where your realise you could have died is. . .uncomfortiable. Also They proboably were high on something and would have killed me without hesitation thought.

Now to move it along; would I have the same thing today?. I can see two things, I proboably would not have got a fit of "manical rage" and I would maybe have leapt at the guy when he was standing still. . . .but the last one I am not shure on that.
