I spent about a week playing this game and here are my thoughts after letting it sit for a bit.
Character selection
There are currently 3 chars to select from with coming soon stamps over a few others. They break down into duel welding weapons, Sword and board, and magic user. They can all do some interesting and unique things. There are a few things that anoy me about the characters. There are no selectable genders. The magic user always looks like a Japanese school girl in a sexy witch/maid cos play. The 2 weapon is your stranded Barbadian fellow and the sword and board is always a chick in armor that only acts as a push-up bra and a metal bikini. Another thing that annoys me is your forced to remember the names of the charters(not your name that you give them but there real names). So when a weapon your looking at crafting tells you"only for Evee" your just stuck wondering if your charter is evee, It also pulls you out of the game knowing there are 3000 Evees running around.
On a positve note:
The magic user in particular puts the source engine to good use when you get the ability to make golms. It basically makes a giant monster out of everything in the room.
Starting mission
The starting mission is done very well in this game and thought it provided special mention. It starts you out seeing a giant spider wrecking a bell tower and solders redying ballistas to kill it. Turns out its the town guarding gone crazy and the town oracal wants to try to save it. So your in charge of keeping her safe while you head it. It dose a very good job of sucking you into the game. As she doesn't have a life bar and is never directly attacked it doesn't feel like an escort mission till about the 3rd floor when your forced to pick her up, and are forced to shin kick a few gnolls to kill them because you cant set her down. By the end you have learned the basics of combat and picking up object so the one minor section of shin kicking isn't too bad when the atmosphere it sets is so good.
Overall feel
Unfortunately the atmosphere set in the beginning isn't carry into the game. It basically dumps you into the same town you just saved but its day time and pleasant music is playing. At this point it feels like a town in a JRPG. The live action cut seen of the starting mission is replaced by a slow craw text under a portrait of the person. Turns out none of the NPCs in this game have physical body's like in outer MMOs. You walk into a shop and theirs just a line of portraits in the bottom to tell you who is in the shop. It also turns out that the town your dumped in is the only town. There is no world to explore so the game just feels very unfinished and the NPC system makes it more revealing.
The dungeons/instants in the game don't help matter eater. There just variations on the same set pieces coped over and over. Not like valve where its just the same puzzle in a different scenario i mean the Exact same section as before pixel for pixel. It just ends up feeling like your running the same dungeon as before only to get to a different boss.
Questing
The only way to go out in kill something in this game is to walk out to the docks and select which dungeon you want to run. Go sit on a boat for outer people to join your party and then run the dungeon. It becomes very repetitive when all the dungeons look the same only with a different boss at the end for you to kill for the town.
Combat
The combat in this game is very fluid and it possibly its only strength. It is real time combat with dogging, blocking(for the sword and board people only), strong attack, quick attack and special skills lined up on the hot keys. Unfortunately this only comes into play on the bosses. The minions do so little damaging and are so slow to attack they feel lifted from a dynasty warriors game. And when they do attempt to take a swing at you they take about 7 seconds of drawing strength to swing or shoot there bow and then promptly go back to standing around waiting to be killed.
The bosses are a little bit better in there variety . However they can all be summed up as wait for them to swing then hit them. And once you realize that space bar can be used to quickly jump in any direction you will never get hit unless you jump into an object of some sort.
Side activity
There is only one side activity and its fishing, and it is done so badly. If you want to fish you have to have a ticket. The tickets are only sold in the dungeon boat. So if your out and want to go fishing you have to start a dungeon only to go to the store and then exit it to run to another boat to go fishing. To top it off the tickets are so cheep that anyone can afford them. It just ends up being a waste of time.
As for the fishing itself. Your given a harpoon launcher and set on a boat in the middle of calm water. Therese a few object to toss around the boat if your board, and you will be, the fish come by about every 5 min. When fish come around you may be Lucy to get 4 successful shots off. However theirs a problems about 2/3 the time there an item(vary in usefulness) and half the time you do get a fish its sick and absolutely useless for anything but vendor trash. So basically in a span on 10 min your lucking to get 2 fish you can use(most of the time you will get 1).Now this wouldn't be so bad if there weren't quest to go fishing and collect 50 heathy fish. It will take you about 6 hours of fishing to do that quest.
(this is on a higher level boat so the fish come a little bit quicker then stated but you get the idea)
It is quite possibly the worst idea ever put into a game ever.
RL money shop
There is nothing of real value here. Everything has a 30 day timer on it and 90% of it is just cosmetic hair or clothing die or for fan service. There are a few items that add stats but tend are not worth it. The only shop item i have seen in any great quantity is the fishing rod and only because it auto fishes for you.
Final Thoughts
This game has alot of great ideas but not great execution or any depth to it. It lacks any staying power. It may have enough content in 2 years but i doubt it
