So usually I ignore most if not all advertisements even the ones here on The Escapist. But when I saw Vindictus... I shrugged and didn't think anything of it. That is until I saw that it used the Source Engine and flaunted the fact that it used "Real Physics". This piqued my curiosity and I decided to check it out despite the fact that it was made by Nexon.
So I downloaded it and got through the silly start up (You have to enter the website, select a server, and THEN it will start the actual program). It looked pretty, which was to be expected from a Korean made game, but the interesting bit was that it actually was fun. I only played it for around 30 minutes but I think this game actually might have promise. Despite all the downfalls of most Korean made MMO's (Micro-transactions, horribly over the top story telling, disturbingly sexual poses/costumes) this might actually be a Diamond in the rough.
I really hope that this might be the first interesting non-RPG MMO that will bring us a line of more MMO styles in the days to come. I know MMO's have been taking a less RPG route these few years but this is the first one that I've actually had fun with and I hope we see more like it in the future.
