just wondering does or did anyone ever do thease things? they are basically kits of models made out of vinyl you cut assemble and paint yourself

I recently learned in my reasearch that thease things are no longer in production, and havn;t been since 2000's (I wonder why that is) I don't know about other kinds of model kits [footnote/]info on that kind of thing would be greatly apreciated[/footnote]

anyway I recently got myself one...well a cheap "re-cast" thing , I also read a site on the "evils" on re-casting...this doesnt bother me as much as the real thing is really expensive thease days (I'd worry about screwing up) and again not in production

so I guess my question is are any things I should keep in mind aside from the basics? did you ever make thease things and why do you supose they went out of production? is there another type of model/kit stuff thats used by hobbyists?

I have a small Lindberg Chevrolet Blazer model kit of what I want to build my future personal vehicle into, if that counts. I kinda like model kits: they get you familiarized with the parts of the object you're building, so if it breaks you've got a better understanding of how to fix it. Unfortunately they've been marginalized somewhat by the diecast metal models due to fewer people willing to deal with the durability issues and less responsiveness that comes with a build-up model.
