...and my friend got killed in a motorcycle accident on the 6th of this month, real life sucks, I really don't know what else to say, 22 years old and gone.

Move forward and be stronger from the experience is all I can even think to do.

What does some guy beating down some guy with a crowbar have to do with GTA? At very least you could of tried just a little bit harder and pulled a Half Life reference.

Shit happens, as a neutral party I couldn't care less about either.

Don't expect empty empathy from strangers.

Jesus Christ, that's horrible.

I think most people can see the difference between real life violence and something on GTA. Just reading that had far more impact than any video game I've played in terms of disturbing nature. I hope your friend's okay in the end. :(
have you played postal 2 its friggin terrible you can put the end of a cats ass on the tip of your m16 and just fire it at someone which eventually starts throwing up the you can trow the severed head of a cow at him and he starts throwing up blood the when the poor fellow thought it couldn't get any worse you smack his head off with a shovel

I have a good story that happened not to recently to my dad when he was out walking our dog.
He was out on a normal day walking our dog when these teenagers came speeding down the road, my dad called out a slur to them as the passed. But then they just turned the car around and one teen hopped out of the car with a tire iron in his hand (there was one person nearby who was actually on the phone by the time the teen got out of the car). The teen walked closer then another one of the teens pulled him back because he noticed the by stander calling the police. So they hopped back in their car and sped off as my dad writ down the license plate on his hand. In the end the teen i under a fine and grounded most likely, and my dad thought that still if he did attack him, the teen would have ended up with a broken arm. (yep he know self defence well)
We live in a nice quite neighbour hood with no violence, just people racing down the roads.( we live on the very edge of town so its kind of the ideal place to race).

Wow jealousy much? Hitting a kid just because of sending x's to his girlfriend is one thing but attacking him with a crowbar is just too extreme. Hope the kid gets better without any problems and I hope the girl dumps that prick or something bad happens to him.

All the Jon Venables hate makes me sick. Yes, he did terrible things, yes he deserves to be under surveillance, but the guy was 10 fucking years old! Did you maybe stop and think why he did the things he did? His upbringing was awful, he was mentally and physically abused. Yes, he killed that boy, but did he murder him? I don't think a 10 year old can possibly comprehend that level of harm.

Ever played GTA IV and you kill a man with a baseball bat?

Last night a 15 year old friend of mine got attacked by a 17 year old with a crowbar, all because he sent x's in a text to his girlfriend. He got hit in the face 3 times with the crowbar, now he has ta get wires put into his jaw and cant talk for 6 weeks and might have slurred speech for the rest of his life.

Another thing is most people have just shook this off as a "bad day".

well you have to admit that IS one hell of a bad day, but I think the term overreaction comes to mind.

Okay, people have said this before me, but I can't stress this enough CALL THE FUCKING COPS. Ask your friend what's more important to him, his reputation, or his life. Who cares if he's called a pussy, he got attacked with fucking crowbar, which as Dr. Freeman has kindly demonstrated to us is a pretty dangerous thing to hit someone with.

Fights over girls are common and have taken place all through history, that's one of the reasons why there are so many social conventions about courtship and marriage and such... to try and keep the violence to a minimum by imposing a degree of order.

People shrugging it off is probably due to the fact that it's so common, and honestly without knowing the details it's impossible to judge. We know what he says, but if he was trying to steal another dude's girlfriend... well this kind of stuff happens, they even make movies and write books about it. It's not legal, and not a good thing, but it is part of life.

In a more general sense violence is not always a negative thing, which is one of the reasons why I am against supressing it, or oppressing those who express violent thoughts.

What's more I see no connection between video games and occurances like this. In earlier days long before video games or modern media, your friend might very well have been legally murdered, or forced into a death duel over something that relatively innocent... depending on factors like comparitive social standing, courtship rules in the culture, and many other things.

Heck "The Illiad" is one of the most famous stories in all of human history, and it's basically a giant fight over a girl. That should tell you something. :)

Don't stand for that. Support your friend in pressing charges and put anyone who speaks out against your friend in their place.
Perhaps suggest they consider how they would react if the same thing happened to a loved one of theirs.

Don't let your friend's assailant (silly word I know) get away with a crime because of immature and inconsiderate people calling your friend names.

So, you are blaming GTA for that? That's primitive.

And by the way it would make more sense if you blamed Half-life for the obvious reasons.

What are we here to discuss? Have I ever killed someone with a baseball bat in GTA IV? No, I don't own the game.

Moral: do not send messages to other people's girlfriends.

Also, GTA4 has nothing to do with real maniacs.

The bitter ending will no doubt be that the girlfriend of the bastard is probably still with him and making excuses for why he did it.

An internet tough guy would be saying things such as "I would shoot/stab/kill the bastard." not "You should do X" or "He deserves Y".

Seriously, I know cynicism is cool and all that, but it helps when you don't use it purely for that purpose.

I think the 17 year old should be shot in both knee caps and castrated then again I'm a person who believes that some people deserve to be tortured and have death kept away from them being that it is a harsher punishment than the death penalty... I'm looking at you Jon Venables. -.-

Anyway sorry to hear about your mate hope that 17 year old gets hiut by car and has to spend the rest of his live in a wheelchair.

...I'm going to get a bad response for what I said in the first paragraph aren't I?
I just read the whole wiki page about the James bugler and what happend.. and omfg ... im speachless... i mean those 2 kids seem to inocent and not able to do any harm , and .. and.. omfg!! im truly speachless!

I remember a quote by someone that said "Monsters are real, and so are ghosts. They live inside us, and sometime, they win."

I guess the monster in that guy won, huh? I'm against the death penalty, I'm not against torture.

Tell your friend I hope he has a fast and Complete recovery. The unfortunate thing is that violent video games are being blamed for stuff like this and not the fact that this 17 year old has jealousy/ trust issues and probably shitty parents who never beat his ass when he acted out. Luckily for the rest of the world this is what is known in the leagal system as assult with a deadly weapon and even attempted murder because the attacker struck your friend in the face repetedly. I hope the psyco bastard rots in prison and has time to think about how he should have handled this issue.
