For anyone that hasn't seen it, here it is.

My first thought after I watched this was "It's about fucking time they stopped sugar coating this shit".

If you want to text while driving, just pull over and shoot yourself in the head. Texting while driving just means you don't want to live and you don't care about any of your fellow drivers that actually have a damn brain.

i just let my phone keep bizzing its electronic little heart out, then wait until i get to where i'm going.

making calls hasn't been a problem for me (handsfree) but the south australian governmnet is about to ban the use of hands-free and speakerphone usage for probationary drivers. fair enough, but it's a pain in the arse. ah well, guess my phone will have to keep buzzing.

...buzz...

If you have to text while driving do what i do! save it for the red light... nothing you have to say can be nearly as important as you taking the extra measure to save your life, or just don't drive! like me! cause i make people drive me places!

Texting while driving is much worse than just ringing someone. Making a call, you can see what's coming in front of you, so while it's distracting, it's better than looking down at your phone and pressing buttons.

So my opinion is: While both are bad, texting while driving is worse.

They should show that over here, seriously.
I see so many people on their cellphone while driving even though it is illegal here.

Just a few days ago my friends car was hit by a person on their phone, thankfully it was in a parking lot and it was only at about 7 mph.

Another one of my friends is still undergoing rehabilitation because her right femur was shattered when they were hit head on by a 16 year old kid texting to his friends about the car he just got and was driving it home the day he got his license.

This stuff is a HUGE problem in this area, every year we loose a few good kids because some dumb kids do dumb stuff and somehow walk away with no more than a scratch of a bruise.

would of been better if the car had then burst into flames and roasted her alive.
and the words 'Don't use a mobile while driving' apear in red across the screen with demonic laughter as a background noise to her screams.

that'll get the point across even better.

I used to always txt while and talk on my phone, change iPod song etc. Until I got pulled over and given an "official warning." I want to keep my license, it's got nothing to do with a care/value for life (mine or anyone else's).

Reminds me of the irish ads we had a bunch over drink driving and stuff, nothing makes you flinch like a car rolling through a fence over a four year old playing football. I think these ads are a great idea makes u pay attention to what will happen when you act the maggot on the roads. OT: texting while your driving is just plain retarded, i mean use a handsfree or put your phone on loudspeaker and call if its that f##king important and if its not then it can wait until you stop.

As I've said before, somewhere amongst the forest of these forums, I try to refrain my texting to red lights, or wide-empty roads. If there's traffic or other cars present, I'll wait until I'm parked or out of the car to text. I'm not that stupid.

Then again I saw, per se, a woman driving while reading a newspaper that was fully unfolded... So perhaps the ad should focus on distractions in general? And the violence is there to try and make an impactful statement, so, meh, go for it advertisement company.

EDIT: Now that I have watched it, I can say I'm thoroughly impressed by the time, effort, and probably money they put into this. Though I'm not terribly impressed by the crash-test results of that car. Makes me kinda glad I drive one hell of a beast car. /:

It really does make an impact though. I think I'll buy a blue-tooth tomorrow.

No words can describe how I REALLY feel about this. You fall under the same category as those other idiot drivers that almost run me off the road due to driving in a zig zag cause their eyes aren't on the road. I like being free to do what I want minus a wheel chair.

Someone who can't realize that they need to keep their eyes on the fucking road shouldn't drive. Here it's illegal using cellphones while driving, unless we use a headset but people still do it all the time. Honestly, I never felt the need to check or answer a text while driving, but if it's so important just pull over or wait for a red light.

Oh and I also hate people who cross streets while texting. I once saw a girl cross a street and the railways while texting twice. Like, 20 minutes apart. Just look away from your phone while crossing, you can resume 20 seconds later and have much less of a chance of being run over by a car or a train.

Yes, I freak out a little when it comes to road safety.

I swear we'd got to the point where we can use our voice to dial someone's number? Could we not use the same idea for texting?
"Hi their...no I said THERE. T-H-E-R-E. Delete delete de- FU-"

Also there are people that use laptops while driving apparently. And there was apparently some woman on a freeway in America calling someone on her phone, steering with her elbow and applying her mascara in the sun visor (though that WAS on Top Gear)

If you have the spatial awareness and skillz to hold the steering wheel with one finger while balancing a monkey on your nose going round Monte Carlo at full speed, THEN you can text while driving.
Otherwise you deserve whatever natural selection throws your way.

they should do an advertisement like this for kids who don't wash their hands. it would have some kids hands exploding after he came out of the bathroom without washing, that would be awesome

I think the closest thing we got here is a thing where drunk people are driving in cars filled with beer, and talking dogs (not a cartoon) telling a girl how she used to be different before pot. on that note every time I've gone on the highway for a few months theres always one guy/girl slowing down traffic texting or driving like shit. There's also a lady down my friends street who every morning drives with coffee in one hand her necks hunched over to hold the phone and is doing makeup on the road. and it's a road people tend to drive recklessly on

That advert is false. Do you know why? Because texting is far worse than that. Where are all the dead fluffy animals? Why haven't the texters become sterilised due to their abuse of mobile phones? Why hasn't the extraordinary concoction of signals being broadcast throughout the world set off our entire arsenal of nuclear weapons?

That advert was cut down in content for the faint-hearted.

We need that in the states... but it would have to be so much less graphic, and thus lose its use... god, sometimes the US of A pisses me off to no end.
