Violin vs Cello

I've been a classical cellist for more than 15 years. I'd say go with the violin. I played in symphonies, string quartets and a band. Sadly unless you are as innovative as Rasputina, all you get to do in a band is play bass lines or do Beatles covers when playing a cello. Violin is more of a "lead" instrument, and most people are interested in it because of that. A violinist learns 1 clef, cellists have to learn 4 at least. So, it's arguably less work.
Really, do whatever makes you happiest. As long as you stick with it, you've made the right choice.

Cello!! <3 we never have enough cellists in the world, but the violin section overflowed quite a few years ago.
EDIT: CRAP!!! Sorry, I did not mean to bring up such an old thread*_* i really need to start looking at the dates on these things.
