So my eyesight has really gone the crapper in the last few months, I had to hand my licence in, and even with glasses I can't see the TV clearly from 3 meters away.

My computer is a little better, at least I can zoom text in on websites (though some really need lessons in accessibility, something when I developed sites for a living I always made sure would work with zoom).

Thankfully my doctors seem to be ontop of it, but it's unlikely my vision will improve, not good, but it wont get worse thank god, I was shit scared for a while I'd end up blind.

But I need some advice on improving my computer so I can actually see things without having to lean in; it's been a number of years since I was in the IT game, and I figure there have been improvements.

I'm running Windows 7, 22" LCD, 1680x1050 res, so any advice would be welcome.

You're probably best off dropping your monitor res down to 1440x900 or 1280x800 (keeping the 16:10 ratio you're using) to start off and see if that helps any. Not an elegant solution but a usable stop-gap measure to start from.
