Vita "bonuses"

I just bought a vita and am currently enjoying the hell out of it (have ps plus and as backlog of games to enjoy) but I was wondering what you can actually do with the non-game elements (cross-save/play/buy)

P.S I just got Spelunky and am struggling to move a save from vita to ps3, any suggestions?

For cross play/save games you just need to install the game on your PS3 and Vita and then have cloud saves and updates on, you should be able to pick it up where you left off.
