Bad or even mediocre voice acting is worse than no voice acting (and is more expensive).

I wish developers had the balls to just use text more, like Planescape: Torment, especially when they aren't going to do the voice acting well, but the fucking kids today can't read for shit, those lazy fuckers. (/is only 24)

But good voice acting (like HL2, Vampires: TMB or Mass Effect) is really good.

I HATE having to read in games. I must say I'm glad we're mainly past the era where it is the norm.
