We could do with some new talent I guess. I am getting tired of hearing Johnny Young Bosch or Yuri Lowenthal's voice whenever I play an rpg.

I wish Kate Mulgrew and Claudia Black did more voice work. What they did in Dragon Age was just incredible. God Kate Mulgrew's voice is, well.. I don't even know but it makes me feel alive.

Guess a VA thread is the place to ask: Curious, is Cam Clarke still in the gig of VA'ing or did he give it up?

OT: I like our current....staff? Cast? of VA's going around, most are talented enough to stay around anyway.

I don't care about the actors behind the lines If they are well done...

Oh my god ...
So no matter who does the lines... JUST SOMEONE WHO DOES THEM WELL FOR FUCK SAKE!
But I admit if theres 1 actor in whole game it gets dull... unless the text is... or shuld i say Shuld be ideresting

Well... yeah. We can always use new talent. Hiring folks from radio shows is a good idea. I know a station filled with potentional "Gears of War" voice actors.

Ellen McLain and Tara Strong are my two favourites. I don't care how many games they're in, I'd love to see them doing anything.

I dunno, it's kinda of like a fun game to try and remember where you heard the voices before, but yes after a while it get's annoying when you can name 25 off the top of your head. I would like to see some more VAs, or people with good voices get into voice work in video games. Names that jump to mind include Patrick Warburton (he's got a couple already I think), John C. McGinley, Mila Kunis (a bit recognizable, but was awesome in Saints' Row), Alan Rickman (how has he not been a villain in someone's game yet?), and Johnny Hardwick (He's gotta do something now that King of the Hill is over). That would be a nice ragtag group of survivors trying to kill a vampire hoard right there.

theres loads of voice actors, just alot of them are crap. Nolan North is in loads of games, but he is a good voice actor (that feels wierd saying for somereason) he's convincing, unlike the voice actors for prototype (only one i can think of off the top of my head) i say we just stick with what works, we don't want crappy acting just for the sake of somthing a little differnt.

I want a death metal singer as voices for the next gears of war
"GHAAAAAAARGH ENEMY'S RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHR!!!" (I know that's not all deathmetal, and that singing like that takes lots of skill, and it screws up your voice, but it will still be funny right?)
NOT AS MUCH SKILL AS PLAYING BASS THO, AMIRITE!!!
In many respects I agree with you. They seem to take the slightest action and scream about it. RARGH Picking up my hatTRTRRRTRGHHHHH

I don't notice all that often, to be honest. Johnny Yong Bosch turns up in a few of my favorites, but he's really good. I'd almost say I'd like more Crispin Freeman (the man does Regal Bryant, Kyon, and Alucard; that's awesome), but he's in a lot of games anyway.

Wouldn't mind more Heather Hogan, though. She did a good job with Colette (Tales of Symphonia) and Amy (Soul Calibur)...

Video game voice acting is like animation voice acting, you have your mainstays, y'know the people who are in everything. And if you can regonize how they talk, you will be able to hear them all the time.

A small list of reoccuring voice actors include:
John DiMaggio (Gears of War, Madworld)
Nolan North (Uncharted, Halo Wars, Fable II)
Cree Summer (Mass Effect, Dragon Age)
Kath Soucie (Ratchet and Clank 2, Dragon Age)
Brandon Keener (Saints Row 1&2, and Mass Effect 1&2)
Fred Tatasciore (Gears of War, Mass Effect)
Jennifer Hale (KotOR, Mass Effect, Brutal Legend, Metroid Prime)

These people are everywhere, really games usually just use the same 10 people over and over, but it freakin' works.
Small list, indeed. I can think of no other reason for forgetting Wendee Lee.

What we need is some Legacy of Kain Voice acting :D
THIS.

I knew there would be backlash against Nolan North, and I do think he's starting to get overexposed, but that's only because he keeps getting hired, which is because the guy has the fucking chops to do convincing voice work.

Look at Bethesda's Oblivion/Fallout voice talent; after hiring the one or two celebrity guest actors (Patrick Stewart, Liam Neeson, Malcolm McDowell) they get per game, they only have the budget to get like 6 people to voice an entire game's population! And that means no one has enough time to devote to each character, leading to occasionally flat performances of characters who could have been much more well-rounded.

As far as new voice talent goes, I think the industry needs to start hiring me. Let's go, people!

Same reaction as the OP, as I had just finished Assassin's Creed, went over to my roommate's computer, who just then had started playing Dragon Age: Origins.

Peter Renaday is both Al Mualim, and Duncan.

I didn't realize John DiMaggio was in games too. I only know him as Bender. I stand educated.
