Volition Drops the Agents of Mayhem Launch Trailer

Agents of Mayhem launches tomorrow, and Deep Silver is showing off the launch trailer today.

The newest game from Saints Row developer Volition is Agents of Mayhem. The open-world action game pits the 12 agents of the MAYHEM organization against the supervillain organization L.E.G.I.O.N. (the League of Evil Gentlemen Intent on Obliterating Nations). The game launches tomorrow, and Volition has rolled out the launch trailer for the game today.

You'll be able to choose between four teams of three agents, and switch freely between them as you play. After playing the game at E3 last year, our Liz Finnegan said [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/video-games/17119-Agents-of-Mayhem-Preview], "The game looks and feels great, the weapons and special moves are interesting, and the game appears to be littered with references to its sister franchise - and more Saints Row is never a bad thing."

Agents of Mayhem launches tomorrow on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. If you want to see more, check out the Magnum PI [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/170453-New-Agents-of-Mayhem-Trailer-Channels-Knight-Rider] trailers.

Sorry, but they unfortunately lost me on NOT HAVING FREAKIN' CO-OP while Saints Row does.

I used to agree with that, until I played Gat out of Hell.

I still feel like this game has no idea what it wants to be.
I'll probably get it eventually anyway.

The game kinda looks to me like Fuse did before they lost their bottle and made what was going to be a colourful affair into a gritty nonosense parade.

I am interested, but I will hold off until I know more about it.

The team didn't want players to feel like they were missing out on anything if they weren't able to wrangle up a partner.
Take that for what you will.

This game looks like they took the shitty combat from the Saints Row games and then... nothing, that's it.

Unfortunately, both me and the partner were very dissapointed to read this.
I felt like wanting to punch a wall.

That's stupid. Saints Row 2, 3 and 4 never made it feel like a co op partner was required. In fact, I don't think the co op partner was ever featured in cutscenes. Each player had their own story perspective without one another getting in the way. They were just along for the gameplay segments, which the gameplay of Agents of Mayhem looks nearly identical, WITH THREE CHARACTERS.

"Hey, let's make a Saints Row game that still wants to be fun and wacky, but strip out the insane character customization and absurd co op shenanigans and hope the game can rely on its half baked driving, third person shooting, and characters without it."

Glances at Wikipedia article...

"Agents of Mayhem is set in a shared universe alongside Volition's Saints Row and Red Faction series, taking place after the "recreate Earth" ending of the Saints Row IV expansion, Gat out of Hell."

...how the fuck is Red Faction still congruent with this stuff? 0_0

Red Faction is a possible sequel to SR2, considering Ultor Corp is the villian in both. Arguably the split from the SR universe and the RF universe happens sometime between SR3 and SR4, considering Earth doesn't exist after SR4.

I legitimately don't get why they tabled Saints Row for this.
It's fine if they wanted to take a break from Saints Row, but they essentially just repacked the combat from Saints Row into this.
If anything I wish they'd do a remake or remaster or Saints Row 1 & 2, I sure as shit would pay $40+ for that, definitely not going to drop a $60 on a repackaged Saints Row combat though.

If they released a new Saints Row, they would have to improve the design. By making a lobotimzed copy of it, they get away with doing less for more money. Perhaps they are RPing making games as the Saints, and just trying to steal our money?

They were kinda running out of ideas for SR. SR3 was similar to 2 in many ways, but with more wackiness(which only kinda worked). SR4 went for broke by being balls to the walls insane and it worked wonderfully. The problem was it really had no where to go from there. Gat out of hell was an interesting idea which was mediocre in execution, probably due to lack of budget and/or care, and it really wasn't needed.

And now AoM is pretty much a spinoff of Gat out of Hell, starting from one of the mutiple choice endings where Gat's a Cop now for some reason. I wanted Agents to be good, but at least it's failure resulted in another IP taking the bullet instead of getting a truly crappy SR game.

it looks not too bad, I like the graphic style, but I find it too expensive for a solo game.
