Wackiest, zaniest, and overall over-the-topiest anime you've ever seen?

I mean, the title is pretty self-explanatory, but in case you don't get it... What anime have you watched that is the most wacky, over the top thing you've ever seen? For the sake of diversity in this thread, if you have others besides Kill La Kill!, Tengen Gurren Lagann, or Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, please post them as well. The whole point of these threads is to share anime right?

Mine would have to be... Baka and Test. The things in that show are just crazy. We have a guy nearly die from a nosebleed, men participating in a beauty pageant (against their will), a guy who everyone considers a girl, no matter how much he argues, and so much more. So far the only show I've seen even close to it is Heaven's Lost Property, that show takes pervert content to a whole new level... and it gave us this beautiful scene.

It has to be Deadleaves
It should be no surprise its directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi who would go on to do Panty & Stocking, Gurren Laggan and Kill la Kill

There is redline which is somewhat similair to Imaishi's work

Paprika also has some pretty out there imagery that is comparable to your flying panties.

Probably Dotto Koni-chan. Its a comedy anime that, in the west, it was only successful in Latin America, which makes it hard to find a clip that is not in Spanish.

Its all about a group of kids that have adventures that would spin out of control (it could end with the destruction of the city/planet on regular basis), and a group of bizarre secondary characters that included an old woman that is only a stretching arm, a girl with a TV for a face, and an alien girl with magic powers and dressed as a calamari.

Redline's the most anime anime in existence, so I'd put that on here.

Also, Cromartie highschool & Nichijou. Weird shit always seems to happen in those shows.

Well, Baccano! gets pretty insane, and Yakitate!! Japan is a Dragonball Z-style superpower show, except it's about cooking bread instead of fighting...

...but really, the answer is Gurren Lagann. It just is.

Hmm, I don't think I've seen anything that can top Gurren Lagann and Kill la Kill to be honest. The only things that come to mind are more insane or WTF than wacky :/

FLCL probably. Nothing in that anime makes even the slightest lick of sense. It's just random as all hell. Pretty fun to watch, though I didn't find it as genius as many "hardcore" anime watchers seem too.

Yeah, I would have to go with Gurren Lagann, Panty and Stocking, Fooly Cooly and Kill La Kill aswell.... I guess I haven't seen alot of wacky anime beside those.

The only closest one I can think of is Macademi Wasshoi! Mainly because of this althought I think it's more WTF?

Sure the anime itself can be wacky at times but overall it is an ecchi anime.

Metal Gear Solid/Rising. Or Wonderful 101.

What? You say those are video games and thus shouldn't count?

Bah! Bah, I say!

Metal Gear is one of the most "anime" properties I could ever think of. And Wonderful 101 (or Platinum Games in general, to be fair) is hella "anime" too.[footnote]I put anime in quotes because in this instance I am referring to the general stereotype that people who don't watch anime tend to have, of it all being something similar to Dragonball Z where everything is nonsensically over-the-top and drawn out.[/footnote]

As far as actual anime goes... eh... I think I would have to clarify my use of "over-the-top" or something. I mean, yeah, Gurren Lagann and Baccano! were both pretty crazy, but I'm in the same kind of position as Drummodino here. I'd like to say either Serial Experiments Lain or Black Rock Shooter, but both of them are more crazy mind-fucks than wacky or zany.

I'm seconding the Metal Gear motion. Wacky, zany and over the top define it pretty well. And it is Japanese after all...

Kinda gotta throw my vote there as well. Although I don't think it's AS insane and crazy, Excel Saga was pretty over the top and bonkers crazy. It stopped being fun though later on

Listen I love me my Gurrens and my Kill La Kills. But nothing, NOTHING comes close to the 25 year old wacky, zany, and overall over the top anime... of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.

Take note of this anime's sky piranhas, flying bird men, and Nazi Cyrborg Guiles.

And let us absolutely never forget such classics like the dubstep squirrel.

Ladies and gents, we haven't even scratched the surface.

Without a doubt Jinrui wa Shimashita. Probably the most ehmm..eccentric anime I've ever seen. It has some serious WTF moments, but underneath it's actually a quite metaphorically clever critique on bureaucratic society.

Not that you'd figure when seeing a depressed loaf and suicidal chickens. :p

Well, of course stuff like FLCL, Gurren Lagann, Panty and Stocking, and Kill la Kill comes to mind.

Jojo is definitely up there, so is Nichijou and Cromartie High School. Also, Arakawa Under The Bridge and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei get pretty nonsensical.

I'm sure there's other stuff, but that's all that I could think of.

Ok, posted this in the other thread, but will drop it here anyways, though again its not anime as such.

Pixel Maritan, a manga/audio teaching aid to help the Japanese speak English like their in the US Marine Corps.

In truth though its seemingly an excuse to have cutesy anime mascot girls quote Full Metal Jacket in broken English (with special focus on R Lee Ermeys training sergeant).

Mostly the pure incongruity of whats coming out of the characters mouth (plus the mangled pronunciation making it clear the actresses have no real idea of just what their saying) its weirdly funny... though the bit where Pixel asks her mother about killing children and we get answered with a cutesy giggle and a sweet 'easy, don't lead them so much' is rather disturbing.
