I have nothing against whatever number an individual dated during their years. I just personally hate it when they decide it's a real relationship at 6 months and decide to get married. Yet a year+ into the marriage they get a divorce and expect us to be surprised.

I just personally see "True Love" as something that is earned not found.

i think not the number of (sex)partners is important, but how you treated them.
so if you had over 100 partners, if you were nice, faithful, candid and never hurt their feelings with intent(for example cheating and/or lying at them for egoistic purpose) then its ok.
i had 5 relationships and about 25 sex partners but i dont consider myself as a whore,(maybe as a ethical slut*) because i treated all of them with love and respect. now i have a long time relationship(3 years) and never cheated or something like that. if someone had many partners because of cheating, maybe more then 1 relationship at the same time (and the companions didnt wanted or knew it) then i would say thats not ok. such a peron i´d call a slut/whore.
having many partners isnt bad generally. being promiscuous doesnt implies you has to be unfaithful or immoral..

Well I myself am nearing 20 years old and haven't been in one relationship. So I'm hardly an expert on this. But I would say that the average from my area is about 1-2 relationships over about 4 years. Now this is my area so it could be very different else where. But there it is.

Define "relationships." I think that teenagers going on dates with people casually...sure, why not. Go get dinner with as many guys as you want. Go to the movies. Hang out. Get to know how guys work.

Having shallow relationships, sure. But I draw the line at teenagers saying "But I love him/her!" or having sex. I think that teenagers are too incapable of their own judgment due to hormones, etc., and too immature, to be ready for sex or to be in love. This can have exceptions

I think more about that than "how many?" Although if you're not keeping a girlfriend for more than a month, and this happens repeatedly in quick succession, I'd start asking if you're finding the right kind of people for you.

I think a lot of this confusion stems from peoples' differing definitions of 'relationships.' I know some people, girls especially, consider just a few nights hanging out or talking on the phone to be dating.

lol'd at dis. well not really, but it is very amusing.

sometimes i fondly imagine a world where love is love, romance is romance, sex is sex, procreation is procreation, no matter who the participants are, and there are absolutely no gender-based biases or double standards.

such a world is pretty much impossible to reach from where we are now, though, because it would require a complete 100% reset of our collective instinctual mindset about love and sex.

edit: actually it's probably impossible flat out unless humanity becomes... something other than humanity. the wise man takes the bad with the good, and our biases and prejudices are directly resultant from something that makes us who we are.

it is nice to think about tho.

Until you've reached your early 20s, anything in the single digits is normal. Drinking really kills inhibitions, and being able to do it legally destroys them, so we all tend to pick up the pace a little around that time.

Really, if you're 20 and you've had 10 or more, you're nuts. If you've had as many as you have, you're just charming. Be proud.
