Robocop come to mind. The game as well as the movie were good... but the sequel were atrocious and I'm didn't even counted the PRIME DIRECTIVE trilogy that came afterward with RoboCable.
Robocop 2 is terrific. Not as good as the first Robo (which is my fav film BTW).

But Robocop 3 can burn in hell.
The second one was just more of the first. It's like if Assassin Creed 3 was the size of a DLC. But more of the first one isn't bad either. More like meh!

Robocop 3 look like the Dark Knight when compare to the Prime Directive trilogy... just look it up.

BioShock. Sure, I liked the sequel very much but another game in that franschise wasn't necessary at all.
Erm, you know they plan to release more? Last time I checked someone, I'm assuming not on the development team, said they could release three more games based on bioshock...

OT: The most recent one in my mind was Halo ODST, as I'm still amazed it was considered a full game.

WARNING - THE POST BELOW CONTAINS VOLITALE FLAME FUELLED MATERIAL. THERE WILL BE NO CAKE IF THESE ARE IGNITED.

Seeing as everyone's mentioning everything, I'll go ahead and mention what I think either doesn't deserve a sequel, or didn't deserve a Sequel.

- EVERYTHING Terminator related after Terminator 2 came out, with the possible exception of Terminator:Dawn of Fate. T2 closed the franchise together with the kind of plot knot tying that makes MGS4 look passable. Fast forward - now we have Sarah Connor Chronicles, Terminator 3, Terminator Salvation, a slew of Movie tie ins...the only reason I spare Dawn of Fate is because it works as a prequel rather than a sequel (the main plot concerned getting Kyle Reece to the Time Machine).

- Avatar. James Cameroons Avatar. First off, thank you Cameroon for releasing a variety of Internet Nazi that makes Blizzard Trolls look tame. Asides the fact that the movie has no substance and it's lazy designs yadda yadda, Cameroon has indirectly caused people to commit suicide shortly after seeing the movie. Between this, the deranged loonies in America trying to be registered as an ethnic group and the Avatar trolls likely to flame me, it's no wonder The Hurt Locker won the Oscars instead. Asides, making a sequel I feel is an insult to those who had their loved ones kill themselves over the first. Even then, it won't be involving everyone's favourite Catgirls, so it's likely the already infamous trolls will reach new levels of trollishness.

God that was longwinded ^_^

- Metal Gear Solid. Same reasons as my notes on Terminator.

- The C&C franchise. Anything EA has made to date is just...well, it rapes the name, and it shows. Generals was good, but it wasn't a C&C game - it was EA slapping a brand name on a shiny new product that otherwise might not have sold. C&C 3 was an unbalanced mess, and is so canatonically wrong it makes the C&C Wiki look cantatonically accurate (which is some feat). Red Alert 3 completely missed the point of the Red Alert universe, turning an otherwise humerous universe into what can only be described as "A mix of lolcats, racism and crack" by my roommate. Lastly, C&C 4. They could really have revitalised things here, but they do bugger all with any of the gameplay concepts. And the story...it makes me want to retcon C&C 3 and write my own horrible fan fiction.

- All the WoW addons. Charecter Derailment, plot yadda yadda asides, when are we going to see a Warcraft IV? Will we ever see a Warcraft IV?

- Left 4 Dead 2. I was going to boycott this...then my father got my brother it for Christmas. I wanted to hang myself. So I ended up playing it, and...it's the same, only more racist. Everything I knew would happen was present - it's just DLC on a disk.

- Portal. Now it's already known I hated the first one, but seriously, Portal 2? It seems they're doing it just for the fans.

- Speaking of sequels just for the fans, I have rather mixed feelings about Starcraft II. The Campaign is pretty good, and certainly replayable, but the plot for the Wings of Liberty arc is just...ugh. It's so...generic. Gameplay wise, it's more or less the same, but it at least doesn't take forever to crank out a single useless grunt by the time some Korean Zerg Rushes you.

If you're refering to the television series, I remember seeing it on TV many years back and I know what you mean.

Exactly! Why make a sequel to a movie that was:
A. Made 10 years ago and...
B. No one watched when it came out

No no no... I'm not talking about the TV series. Even if there a scene where robocop get recharged by evading a freaking rocket!(Also, WHY? There is no god! Aaaarrrggghhh) I'm talking about the direct to DVD sequel that took place 15 years later and where the chief of police(Sgt. Cable) is turn into another robocop model to hunt for Murphy. That his son is now a CEO of OCP and, to take the cake, it turn at one point into Scooby Doo.

I mean seriously - who ever came up with that crap really saw a bunch of suckers... Gotta catch them all! All the damn video games that is. Want the strongest Pokemon in the latest game? better have played the 54 other games previous

Why and how has this suddenly convinced me to want to watch it, even if I know it's gonna send me in a bad mood all week?

The Force Unleashed. The first game was awful. The only thing good about it was an epic story. It perfectly connected the Prequel trilogy to the Original Trilogy (As much as people dislike that idea), and probably should have just been a movie. With that being said, why is a sequel being made? The status quo was restored! We discovered how the rebels came to be, and everything ended on a good note. Not only do I not expect the gameplay to be good, I expect the story to get totally fucked over.

This. Exactly what I was going to say. What the hell were they thinking?
All I know is that the poster with cat in the Hannibal Lecter mask is HI-larious.
That poster made me face palm on so many levels, first off its a kids film parodying silence of the lambs, one of the greatest charachter pieces ever

also, silence of the lambs came out in 1991 and theyre gonna make fun of it now in 2010 when its not all that culturally relevant?? (facepalm) :(
Yeah, or they could be parodying Hannibal which came out in 2001. Or Hannibal Rising which came out in 2007.
everyone knows that from silence of the lambs is the most popular movie in that franchise and thats what its from

It might be the best, or most influential but: "Upon release, Hannibal broke box-office records in the United States, Australia, Canada and the UK in February 2001."

do game movies count? Dungeons and Dragons, Bloodrayne and Mortal Kombat all had sequels, none should have.
Actually the sequel to the D&D movie wasn't bad, but if you want a movie based on RPG's just watch the two Gamers movies, especially the second one

[sub]Except for those gel spouts. They aren't exactly Portal...[/sub]
I really don't get how everyone mentions Portal, I thought the song "Still Alive" basically came out and said "There will be a sequel soon so get ready" and yet everyone acts surprised...

OT: Any Sonic game since Sonic Adventure 2. How they can keep making them is beyond me.
