So you just got home from a game store and you had just bought a newly release game. You had seen trailers, and gameplay of an expansive world and had been highly awaiting it. You download it on your PC or play on Console and soon you entered the game. You press 'New Game' and a two minute cinematic cutscene showing many character, signifigant events, and others. Soon after the game starts, you're one of the characters in the cutscene, an average male with brown hair, in their mid twenties, wearing a suit of armor.

You start at the bottum of stairs and seeing nothing around you keep running up the stairs where occasionaly you see a sign saying "You're almost there!" though after an hour of running, you aren't anywhere. You think its a glitch but realize that every time you see the sign, the area looks the same. Though after two more minutes the sign changes when you get to it, it now says "You almost made it, but missed it!" Confused, you look on the internet to find many other's with the same problem.

Then you realize, that the stairway is the game, the whole game is just you running up a large stairway, never reaching the end.

You have been lied to and giped out of $60, how do you react?

(The story isn't true, this is all fake. Its just a fun little thing to see how people would react if it did happen to them. It doesn't matter if you don't buy games on release or do, just say how you would react)

Why would I ever buy a game that consisted of only stairs?
And even if it wasn't advertised as only stairs, I wouldn't buy a game without seeing other people's opinion on it.

I take it back to the store, insist that I disagreed with the EULA and get my full refund back. Then I slap myself for buying a stairway game. But I still have my $60.

Let's just say the developer will get something in the mail for their hard work...

sounds like the neverending staircase of mario 64

I was pissed off like mad at that, Id dunno how angry id be at this

or maybe id be cunning, and sell it on ebay or something, get my money back before the secret gets let loose.

Then again, I dont buy full price games anymore. Its funny, now I have some INCOME now that ive hit the age of getting a job and losing pocket money, and now I dont want to buy full price games. Well, I say that like its of some importance, its because I but so many games on steam for £2 that I dunt ker about any others

Forgot to add a little part to compensate that. Read the second sentance I just added. (Right after the original first sentance)

And yet there will be no doubt that a £50 game concerning running up stairs would gain a huge internet following, become an overnight massive success and put on the shelf next to Big Rigs Racing as pointless crap games to make unfunny Youtube videos out of.

But seriously,

I never buy games when they first come out, normally I wait a year or so and do my research. Hence I'm immune to this sort of thing ^_^ *smug*

1. What newly released game came can I buy for 60$? Except inde games ;) Price is much higher here.
2. I usually check trailers, gameplay trailers and read a bit about the game before I acutally buy it.

EDIT: To your new edit, it can't show commercials of it being a huge world to explore if it's not acutally true, that could mean lawsuits if the whole game is stairs.

Allow me to elaborate, then.

Why would I buy a game without extensively researching it? It's not like it's from a series or company I'm faithful to; I'm not going to buy it day one without looking into things.

You pretty much got owned if this story is true/non-metaphorical stairs.

Unfortunately I have to call bullshit on this, as amusing as it is, due to the fact that you say you bought it in a store (unless the store is Crazy Clarks).

I can certainly see it happening if you bought it over the internet from an unnamed developer.
Its a joke, their is no such game, at least I don't think there is. The whole story just came out of me and my friend's talking about if a game company did this.

I rarely buy games on release, so if that happened I'd be pretty impressed at the internet in general for managing to keep the true nature of the game a secret for so long.

Why would i wear a suit of armor for running up stairs? Armor is awkward to move in and makes you balance go all fluey. Plus you're top heavy and would fall....

I would get all the achievements then return it claiming that the game was a massive scam, or i'd lie say i bought it for a friend but they already have it so i'd like to get a different game. Preferably one not involving eternal stairs.

If I wanted never-ending stairs, I'd just pop in my old SuperMario 64 and run towards the last boss stage, with not enough stars.

I'd just get my money back, regardless.

Return it, get my cash back, then sit down and watch the shitstorm as the developers are stamped out of existence.
