So has anyone noticed that when you aren't paying attention to your ai partners they are horribly stupid. I was playing cod4 today, and I noticed my teammates where shooting at something so i decide to shoot at it with them, only to discover that they where shooting literally at nothing. then I had a ground braking epiphany, all my teammates no matter what game are retarded. In kingdom hearts donald and goofy walk into walls constantly, not to mention there special attacks, which they never do at the right time. (even if you customize there patterns) Mass effect, wow thanks for blocking my shots. Halo could you die any faster, and why can't a highly trained future marine drive worth a s**t? every summoned minion ever even if you do control them personally (pikmin/Overlord) jesus, why does every defendy in every escort mission walk directly into fire and then not look for cover! Also why do friends who are firing the exact same gun as me, and the enemy always do 50% less damage! dear lord i'm not asking for the game to play it self but why do my teammates have to be so freaking dumb ahh!
so basically what I'm asking is tell me the story of the worst time you had with your AI teammates in a game.

p.s. anyone who has played on xbox live can replace AI with thirteen year old...

EDIT: sorry hit the post button too early...do that sometimes. ANYWAY, the worse case of retarded AI for me would have to be Tales of Symphonia. I mean they aren't bad on the surface, but bloody hell i want Grade you bumbling idiots!

On topic, Stalker Clear Sky AI is the worst for me. Most of the time they are bugged and don't do the scripted scenes they are supposed to. With the latest patch sometimes your teammate AI keep repeating "Be quiet, the enemy never sleeps, Move out, keep quiet, keep quiet, the enemy never sleeps." Which can be incredibly annoying. Also I have died ever so many times from being shot in the back from my own allies. The Stalker Clear Sky AI problems just go on and on. Another issue is that I didn't know everyone in Chernobyl is an Olympic long distance. shot put contender when it comes to throwing grenades.

Yeah, I like to gun in Halo 3. That's why I usually get my brother to drive in split-screen co-op. The AI tends to drive... badly. And I use the term 'drive' loosely. They're good at stopping, but not driving.

I have to say that the worst AI possible would have to be the enemy AI in the original Drakengard. Anyone who has played this game knows what I'm talking about: they run around in formation and, after blowing them up with a giant dragon, they just go back into formation with huge gaping holes and continue patrolling like nothing happened!

As for partners, I would say the AI in the Elder Scrolls is just horrid.

In one of the Call of Duty games, can't recall which, I threw a grenade.
One of my AI teammates thought we were playing fetch. Chased it down, blew up, and I got a trip back to my last check point courtesy of Friendly Fire.

Not sure if anyone remembers Netstorm, an ANCIENT PC game, but the AI had two Personalities: Jason Voorhees and Weird Al.
Al was always my side-kick in rare co-op missions.

This is why the Gambits in FFXII are Awesome, cause then the AI plays like you (They are optional, so I allways had them control the other two party members while I used the main one manually)

I loved the gambit system, but only ever used it so that the other members of my party healed one another and maybe registered a special attack for flying or undead enemies.
Other than that, i ordered my characters individually most of the time.
I never trust AI, even when it is that good.

OP: My worst AI experience, halo 2. No particular part. The whole thing was an AI nightmare.
Thanks to AI, i was blown up by wraiths more times than i can count.

I have quite a few mishaps with dumb AI. Whilst sniping on halo 3, the Arbiter seems to think that getting shot in the back of the head by his own team mates is a good thing. In GTA4 you cousin is constantly ringing you up (Not so much dumb as it is extreamly annoying) and the worst is easly the hostages in Counter Strike. They'll fall off a building but don't seem to want to crawl a air vent.

ive never had the chance to experience AIs retardedness on halo 3 due to my sister always jumping in so its a split screen.

the only case of tardness ive faced is in left 4 dead, yes there spose to save you from a hunter but all mine do are sit back and laugh at me.

I hate AI characters that stand in your way, you can't get past and it take a minute for realise. "Oh, you wanna get past, well okay then, I'll step aside." Probably getting attacked the whole time as well.

Or lining up a sniper shot only to have some AI goon, stand right in the firing line, just hanging out. right there. Move!

I know a thirteen year old who plays the vidja games, and he could kick your ass down the street and back again without thinking about it. I'd love to have be one of my AI partners. I wouldn't ever have to worry about death except via suicide.

Also, if you want good AI teammates, pick up Rainbow Six Vegas. Micheal and Jung are competent shooters and typically only die when you tell them to do something stupid.
