Um...it's not?
Unless you somehow become a vampire in your sleep, I guess.

So you died in your sleep then you went to heaven? Well if heaven exists then why not?

It doesnt have to been heaven, the point is that you are no longer living and are somewhere else

'Waking up dead' is a semi-slang term meaning to die only after one realizes one was supposed to have died; E.G., failing to realize you've lost enough blood to die until you look down and notice that you're walking through the red sea. NOTE: Such a thing refers only to dying while in one's sleep.
Believe it or not, that wasn't a complete load of shit.

Waking up dead basically means you go to sleep, and are dead before you wake in the morning. You never really woke up. I guess it applies when someone tries to wake you, but then find out you're dead. In all reality, it isn't possible.

I would say it's possible, it depends how down to earth you are.. Like dying while sleeping, then you wake up dead.

There are two ways.

A) Undead of some form, this includes Zombies, Vampires, ghosts Ect.
B) Afterlife of some form.

Other than that it's a figure of speech.

There are more ways than you would think people could "wake up dead" house on fire (smoke inhalation), if you are sick, throwing up while asleep on your back, I've even heard of a lightning bolt hitting someone through their window while they slept.

All of these cases the person would have gone to sleep and never woke again. (waking up dead)

You are being too literal with the terminology.
The phrase waking up dead general implies that you have died in your sleep. You don't literally "wake up" except in the sense of the afterlife (assuming you believe in one).

It is something of an old fashioned threat as well.

you die in your sleep when your mind is inactive you feel no pain its a great way to go yes? if i remember right 95% of the population would prefer to die in their sleep. and your thing wakeup dead implies that everyone believes in heaven.

No offence dude, but your girlfriend seems to be showing signs of mental retardation.
She just thought about it one day for no apparent reason
