Hello fellow Escapist forum users, I find myself with an annoying predicament.
Tomorrow morning, I have to wake up at 7 AM. Unfortunately for me, I'm used to going to bed at 3 AM and sleeping until noon. Do you guys have any advice for going from staying up super late to getting up pretty early?

Even if it can't help me tonight I would love it even if you guys can only give long-term advice

Thanks!

Make your alarm clock a song you like to listen to. That helps me.

It also helps to not need all that much sleep, as I usually do a 2AM-8AM sleep every day.

Yes, I realize this likely is bad for me, but I haven't felt any negative effects yet. :p

Take some Nyquil (If you feel bad about abusing the drug... Don't) and actually try to go to bed. Turn off your computer, TV, lights, etc, and make the effort to go to bed. Then set a damned alarm, make some coffee and hope you're awake enough for whatever you need.

Also, for the record 7AM isn't that early bud.

Long term would just be to start waking yourself up earlier, that way you'll be too tired to stay up till 3AM, and eventually your sleeping pattern will adjust.

Here are some thing's that help me

Sleep where the sun can reach you early, a rather good way to wake up in my experience.

Have something that makes a constant noise, like an electric fan or a radio, and have someone shut it off for you. the sudden lack of noise eventually wakes me up.

The ever classis alarm clock, if you dont have a proper one most phones come with the option.

Or, the boring way, start going to bed earlier.

Thanks for the advice so far everyone, I'm definitely gonna bookmark this thread and do some of these things when I have the chance. Too bad I'm not at home right now or I could actually do it.

I just try to force myself to get into the new sleep schedule habit. I start forcing myself to try to sleep at an earlier time, and just hope i can sleep at least a few hours before the alarm goes off.

There really isn't much else I can come up with to help with that.

One thing you could do is try to make it a very sound sleep rather than long. Do whatever you can to help you sleep: masturbation, drinking milk, sleeping pills, etc. (going to bed a even an hour earlier will help a lot too)

Sorry, but no suggestion. I normally sleep at 10 or 11 o`clock and wake up at 5:30 AM.

I still wish you good luck though.
