The other day I decided to walk a mile and time myself, and I got about 13 minutes.

How long does it take you to walk a mile?

Walking?
Isn't is going to be basically the same for us all since the only variation is going to be how tall someone is?
Running would be more interesting.

1 minute 55seconds on my bicycle absolutely flat out.
Walking, no idea.
But it begs the question, why did you time yourself? Are you intending to improve? Get fitter? Racing somebody?

Well I got a tread mill and after a brief warm up period I set it to 2 Mi/Hr which is my basic walking pace. So I'd guess it'd be like 30 mins. So I find it odd that it would take 13 mins, 'cause that would mean you were walking more than 4 Mi/Hr, which would mean either your very tall or you have a very fast walking pace.

Someone can feel free to correct me but a light jog is like 5-6 Mi/Hr on an average human (or 12-10 mins to the mile). So if you walk a mile close to that methinks you were probably walking faster than you would normally. Sometimes referred to as "power walking".

I can't tell you because it might be considered cheating this...I usually speed walk/power walk because my old classes used to be so far apart from each other. >.< I never just walk normally now - IDK Its funny to catch up to the people who walk really slow. I have a P.E log about taking a 1 mile walk but I know I power walked half of it because I couldn't help myself - It was driving me nuts.

Never timed myself, but I reckon I probably walk a mile to university anyway each day. Not sure if this is accurate but it usually takes me around fifteen minutes, give or take (part of that is uphill though).

I used to walk that everyday twice a day for work and would take me between 8 and 20 minutes depending how much time I had to arrive at work and also the weather.

It takes me 2 seconds to walk from one end of my room to the other, my room is about 4 meters long, there are 1609 meters in a mile, so for me to walk a mile it would take me about 13 minutes.

I'd say less though because I'm in my dressing gown which puts me in a lazy mood, I'm sure I could travel across the room quicker had I had the proper equipment.

Being as average foot-speed is around 3mph, no-one should take much longer than 20 minutes.

Having said that, I've just signed up for This wee beastie [http://www.itexwalk.je/Walk/Walking/Route/] 48.1 miles on June 19th... I reckon 16 hours ish? Starting at 3am, so it's not like it matters.

I never really timed myself while walking but probably around 10 minutes...unless when I was in high school they made students take gym classes and forced us to run the mile twice every time and the gym teacher timed us lol.

Running, I can finish a mile in 11 minutes. Walking, maybe about 20. I'm a slow individual.

I remember hearing that the average adult male walks at about 4-5 miles an hour. I walk at about that and I am 5'9".

Also in "The Fugitive" Tommy Lee Jones makes a speech saying the average human male walks about 4.5 miles an hour.

Edit:My bad I think it was 4.5 miles an hour.

Just got off the treadmill as a test and any faster then 5 mile an hour means I have to jog, below that though is a pretty comfortable pace.

If I'm not in a hurry I can do it in about 15 minutes. I've managed it in under ten minutes before.
