Just saw the news a few minutes ago. I don't know how much the rest of the world knows about him, but he's a legendary journalist/media figure here in the US. RIP Uncle Walter, you shall be missed.
(CBS) The "most trusted man in America" is gone.

Walter Cronkite, who personified television journalism for more than a generation as anchor and managing editor of the "CBS Evening News," has died. CBS vice president Linda Mason says Cronkite died at 7:42 p.m. Friday with his family by his side at his home in New York after a long illness. He was 92.

Known for his steady and straightforward delivery, his trim moustache, and his iconic sign-off line -"That?s the way it is" - Cronkite dominated the television news industry during one of the most volatile periods of American history. He broke the news of the Kennedy assassination, reported extensively on Vietnam and Civil Rights and Watergate, and seemed to be the very embodiment of TV journalism.

Yeah, this was some really bad news to find out today. We've truly lost an American legend.

This is not a good year to be famous. All the celebrities are dropping like flies. Sad thing is Walter won't get half the news coverage that Michael Jackson got.

Wait, "dont know who he is"?

Damn next we will be getting kids saying "i dont know what WWII is". Get your stuff together boy! lol, ok seriously though. Its sad day for journalism, its amazing how much power one mans voice could have. There will not be another one like him in this day and age.

And thats the way it is...
I'm betting right now there are lots of kids who don't know what WWI is.

Why? Because they haven't learned about it in school yet? Or do you just think kids these days are that stupid?

It is really difficult to imagine, Walter Cronkite dead, I, I don't really know what to say.

I do find it really truly sad that there are people who don't know who he is.

But he's gone now "and that's the way it is."

Oh you smartass. Hey how about that Dark Knight movie?
The second best film of '08 is what the Dark Knight is.
What do you consider the first to be?
Let the Right One In.
Haven't seen it. I'll check it out though.
You should. PM me if you ever get a copy and see it, I also recommend Swedish with English subtitles.
Sure thing. Will do.

I'm 17 and I know who Cronkite is. What a shame. A real American hero, that one. If only MSNBC and FOX had a guy like him.

First celebrity death I haven't laughed at or celebrated since Farah Fawcett. I hate Billy Mays and Michael Jackson!

92 years old is a pretty ripe old age. I don't lament a passing that happens this way much, given that the alternative is that we demand our celebrities fossilize alive. Would that I could live that long, I don't think eternity would find me wanting, but the average American kicks the bucket a good 20 years before that.

That said, he was a great newsman. Thanks for the memories.

He was a real newsman. He wasn't afraid to show emotions on Live TV.
