You can turn that off you know.

That said, I would say go with Avast, I use it and have had zero problems with it for quite a while now. It isn't perfect but it is basic protection, and free, and not at all annoying.

Right now I'm running Microsoft Security Essentials, Avast! Antivirus, and IObit Security 360. Avast is good for a firewall, and IObit has a really fast scanner good for cursory scans.

Stay away from Avira Antivir, though. It won't want to be uninstalled from your computer.

I've always used AVG free and Comodo to good effect. If you're willing to pay money Trend Micro is pretty damn good too.
