I actually happen to think that The Escapist is pretty badass. As far as forums go, this one is the most accepting to newcomers and after a lost argument the users actually admit to being wrong.

I have never witnessed any social circle-jerking, favoritism based on social status, or condescension based on relative newness of any member.

The whole attitude of the community is very brofist, and because of that this is the only non-anonymous board I ever visit. You guys rock.

Discussion value: What are some unpleasant experiences you've had with other boards? To keep it from violating any rules (in case it already hasn't), let's not mention the NAMES of any real users or websites.

I've personally left many sites after their regular members essentially became a low-tier form of justice, the will of whom was always heeded by the moderators.

Can't say the escapist is any better than any place else Iäve been to. Also the moderators are ridiculously arbitrary in their decisions, and if you challange their decisions they simply refuse to give an answer.

OT: I've only really been active on this site but my experience on The Vault was a fairly good one. Nice community, friendly, always helpful and I met a few great people on there.

OT: The only other forum I've been on were the Lucas Arts ones, and they pretty much died years ago I think; probably due to the knowledge that LA never read their forums, which is probably why they've somehow managed to drop the Jedi Knight series, leave Battlefront 3 somewhere and didn't make a KotOR 3.
