War in a general sense never changes... as in people fighting and killing each other over petty shit (most of the time): wealth, pride, religion. its the weapons used and tactics that have changed

in the end (like in FO3) war is still war- people die, no one truely wins and it doesn't stop.

"They say war never changes, but in every war they kill you in new ways"

I don't remember the exact quote.

Automatic weapons changed war - Charge of the light brigade anyone

Surface to surface missiles changed war, this is where we are, next will be wide usage of satellite to surface missiles in my opinion
Did that thing go a bit like this:

Commander: "Tell the light brigade to charge those guns over there."
Messenger: "'kay."
*
Messenger: "Charge those guns."
Brigade: "What guns?"
Messenger: "Uhh... those over there I guess."
Brigade: "'kay. CHAERG!"
Commander: "OHSHITFUCKINGHELL NOT THOSE GUNS! NOT THOSE GUNS!"

?

Also, I think missile satellites are already banned.
Umm. I'm not so sure about the satellites. I believe that the Space Treaty of 1967 and the following additions does ban the use of nuclear weaponry from space, among other things. But I'm pretty sure it says nothing on conventional weaponry.

So, you won't get nuked, but do expect a giant razor beam or simply a giant weight (A concrete donkey!) dropping from the sky.

And yes, that treaty was signed and ratified by practically every country in the world.
MAY GOD HELP US ALL.

Anyway, you're probably right.

I just googled war jokes. I personally didn't find anything funny. :-/
Quoting Fallout or Solid Snake seem like the only good ones.

On a more serious note, the reasons why we fight wars and how we fight those wars (basically, purpose and technology) do change. But in its most basic essence (lots of people hurting/killing lots of other people) war has never changed. Heck, even animals such as Meerkats and Monkeys wage war.

I wonder if the dinosaurs fought wars. T-Rex in a fighter jet...
That would be a big mother-fucking jet.

Martin Luther King, Jr. - "War is a poor chisel to carve out tomorrow."

Ernest Hemingway - "Never think that war, no matter how necessary, nor how justified, is not a crime. Ask the infantry and ask the dead."

Mark Twain - "Man is the only animal that deals in that atrocity of atrocities, War. He is the only one that gathers his brethren about him and goes forth in cold blood and calm pulse to exterminate his kind. He is the only animal that for sordid wages will march out... and help to slaughter strangers of his own species who have done him no harm and with whom he has no quarrel... And in the intervals between campaigns he washes the blood off his hands and works for 'the universal brotherhood of man' - with his mouth."

Jean-Paul Sartre - "When the rich wage war, it's the poor who die."

Charles H. Maskins - "Only two great groups of animals, men and ants, indulge in highly organized mass warfare."

General Dwight David Eisenhower - "When people speak to you about a preventive war, you tell them to go and fight it. After my experience, I have come to hate war. War settles nothing."

The technology and methods used in War change, but the fundamentals of war stay the same.
War itself is a very poor method of settling a conflict.

Well the means of waging war change with every generation and every advance in technology, but the basic concept of war always remains the same, so yeah "War, war never changes".
This.

How we kill each other is different, but the principal of war holds strong.
We slaughter the enemy, we decimate their land, and try to rebuild it afterwards.

War changes when the offensive Captain has an affair with the defensive Corporal's wife.
