I... really don't think it was all that great.

It looks pretty lacking in any form of creativity or originality to me. And a variety in map scale is nice and all, but not when your games' shooting mechanics work horribly in close quarters.

Just looks like generic "Realistic shooter" to me, only with a bit more polish, and if I wanted that I could play several games I already own, and that includes Bad Company 2.

hmmm, looks good. Exactly the same as Battlefield BC 2 multiplayer, but still good. I will probably pre order this soon, jesus November is going to be a busy month for me.

If you watched this being told it was Modern Warfare 3, would you REALLY be able to call it out without prior knowledge of the video? Because I wouldn't.

I don't see why people get so worked up over how CoD outsells BF when they are almost identical to each other except for in the details.
64 players, huge maps with multiple objectives, vehicles and aircraft, no stupid perk or kill streak system. How is that like Cod again?
Killstreaks and perks destroyed CoD for me. What they've done with CoD is really retarded. The next logical step is to make Call of Duty: Wizards!

Theres some footage of the alpha, brought to you by people I assume broke the NDA. Looks shiny. Im liking you need to breathe to steady a sniper rifle again, and the knife is a separate weapon with decent kill animations. (near the end of that video, the player approaches the side of a enemy, then takes his legs out and stabs him in the chest while hes down)

Cant wait for this!

pleasee let the final product actually be like this...

MW3 surprised me with a very intense and jaw clenching gameplay video, but it's not often (until the BF3 trailers started coming out) a gameplay trailer has me gaping not from the graphics but the way the environment is used and...stuff etc

I hope it works out well.

I am trying to get into battlefield BC2 and it is so fucking hard.

I spawn disoriented unto a sky full of bloom, every where is obscured by smoke and by the time I've waddled my ass to an objective the defense that spawns there blows my ass away.

I just hope there is more to that game than camping and eye strain.
get in a squad, and stick with them. Communicate if possible. spawn on squad when tactically advantageous. give out ammo, health as needed, dont use fully automatic weapons when hiding with your sniper unless necessary. learn how to drive a tank, and dont just floor it to the front line unless that is the best course of action. Dont take the heli unless you know what u r doing.

now get out there and make us proud, soldier. /salute

quick reference here
edit: and yes, i can't wait for bf3 ^_^

Huh, this looks exactly the same as COD for me, in fact you could have played this trailer with MW3 slapped on the front and I would have believed you. I think I'll pass on this one.
Yep. Vehicles and destructible environments and large scale warfare. That's definitely COD alright. *rolls eyes*
The last COD I played, MW2, had vehicles and somewhat destructible environments, not entirely sure what you mean by "large scale warfare" but I didn't see anything larger than what COD has. Nothing personal against you or anyone, enjoy what you want, but it amuses me how much hate there is for COD around here and yet as soon as you stick an "alternate" name on essentially the same product give or take a couple of features it's suddenly amazing.

Being the gunner to an auto-piloted AC-130 doesn't count as a vehicle. CoD doesn't have vehicles in MP. And busting out windows is not destructible environments. Next time you collapse an entire building on an enemy squad to kill them, or blow a hole in the wall to complete an objective in CoD, call me. I'm not holding my breath.

Also, there has never been a time in CoD history where you could have 64 people on a map.

Thats false.

Im all for pointing out obvious flaws in the COD series, but you could at least do some research before bashing a franchise you obviously have no clue about.
Let me rephrase. None of the recent iterations. The old, good ones are part of a separate franchise, so as to protect their sanctity to me. Recent being WaW, MW2 and BlOps. You know, the garbage, copy and paste ones.

I do hope there isn't so many random bloom effects in the game, it made the game a bit hard to look at.
Some of those bloomeffects are flashlights. You can use flashlights in dark areas to blind enemies.

Doesn't sound all that different to me, number of people on a map, how you control a vehicle, fact is to a neutral observer who isn't a fan of either they seem very similar. Surprising when you consider the number of arguments I've seen over fans between them, but then again perhaps anything similar (360 vs. PS3, PC vs. Mac, IE vs. Firefox vs. Chrome etc) seems to breed competition between the fans for whose product is the best.

It was less that I thought it was probably shit. And more a groan inducing, "Really, another WWII shooter?" After CoD1-3, plus the PS2/Xbox era console ones, like The Big Red One. Plus the MoH games. Plus Wolfenstein. It was a bit tired. MW was the first extremely accessible, successful modern combat game, with a campaign.

It was a breath of fresh air. WaW just felt like a step back. I never purchased it, but I played it plenty at friend's houses. It wasn't terrible, it just kind of existed. I think my biggest problem with the series these days is just the amount of squandered potential. The old CoD games were great. CoD4:MW was great. It was a breath of fresh air seemingly into the FPS genre.

But they publisher had to be Activision. Who only sees dollar signs. And instead of pushing forward and trying new stuff again, and pushing the genre forward. They are content to release a game with minimal change, on the same engine it's been on for forever, with nary a new art asset in the bunch. And the fact that they can take the laziest route, of least resistance, and still their games will sell better than any before them, is what disgusts me. It's the most safe, boring, lazy approach to development. And it fucking works. It has made them more money than God.

More of a show-case of awards than anything, doesn't change my mind about this game at all.
