Warcraft 4 , yes no maybe so?

Will it ever happen? Or are us warcraft rts fans up the creek and forced into the mmoRPG if we want our alliance v horde fix?


is the franchise done? doomed forever, trapped in the land of grind, or will we ever see another warcraft RTS?

any thoughts,

What with Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2, not to mention the constant attention to World of Warcraft, I don't see how Blizzard would have the time to do another Warcraft RTS.

The release of World of Warcraft back in 2004 has potentially ruined any chance for further expansion of the series proper through RTS games. Like MaxTheReaper said, the Warcraft story is being continued in the MMO.

We can only hope that the new MMORPG project will be World of World of Warcraft will be just as popular as World of Warcraft.

I remember that from The Onion. That was awesome.
Anyway, I can only hope that Warcraft 4 will happen. I doubt it, though. Just too many WoW expansions to make. I mean, not saying that I don't like WoW, because I've poured 90-something hours into it in the last month, but I really would like to see a new RTS.

And anyway, when I want my warcraft fix, I just install Warcraft 3. A warcraft 4 would be awesome but rest assured if it does happen it will be in the far future.

Pretty sure that'd get them fired, employees (except maybe the very high ups) aren't allowed to talk about company plans before they're announced publicly.

Blizzard changes it so much i thought no one actually cared what happens as long as they get their next tier of equipment.

I kinda want it even more than I want Diablo III - sure Diablo II is the game I've spent the most time on ever, but Warcraft is just so great, and great RTSs are much more rare than good RPGs/hack'n'slash games. It probably wont happen though, due to WoW - so I guess I'll have to settle for the CG intros for the next 45 expansions to WoW...

That might only be partially true, Since Blizzard not so long ago merged with Activision to form Blizzard-Activision, one of the biggest game developers out there now. Whilst they've been trimming fat of late and did just after the merger it may be in a few years when the economic downturn reverses and they can afford to take theirs eyes off their current franchises they might be able to put a team together to create Warcraft 4 but thats a big if and even if they do decide to do that its gonna be a good few years before they do.
