I still don't know why this movie is happening. Does anyone really want a WoW movie? Like, anyone at all?

I really can't imagine it being any good, but then, I have no faith in film adaptations of games anyway.
I do.

I've never even played WoW beyond 10 levels of the trial game either. Blizzard makes amazing cinematics in their video games complete with great action and over the top cheesy dialogue. A WoW movie being done in this cinematic fashion has the potential to be hugely entertaining.

I'd prefer a StarCraft movie but it makes sense to start out with the best known IP.

Production of the movie, which was penned by Charles Leavitt and rewritten by Duncan Jones, is set to begin in January 2014, aiming for a December 2015 release date.
Wasn't the release delayed because of Star Wars coming out at the same time?

And I guess the script wasn't as 'cool' as Colin Farrell believed if he didn't go for the role (unless he's still attached and just absent from this particular list).

It is not a WoW movie, the setting is based off the first Warcraft Game. Yes I am looking forward to it.

I'd feel more optimistic if this was handed to someone like Mr. Del Toro. Even if the actors phone it in or if the screenplay sucks balls, at least I could go into a Warcraft movie knowing that I'd see the unique and colorful visual style of the Warcraft universe recreated as real-life through the amazing symbiosis of CGI and practical make-up and effects.

Rob Kazinsky and Toby Kebbel. I am slightly more interested.

I'm thinking Arthas for Kazinsky. I didn't think much of him until he pimp slapped Sookie in True Blood. But that was hilarious and he pulled off a seemingly decent bloke, who suddenly turned into an asshole nicely. Although Arthas was a dick before he went after Frostmourne.
Arthas wont be in the movie. At least not as anything other than a wink to the fans. The movie is set during the events of the first war, and, while we don't know the exact timing of arthas' birth he would have been a newborn at best at that time. Additionally the horde never made it that far north during the first war. It wasn't until the second war under Doomhammer that the horde pushed far enough north for Lordaeron to be relevant.

god i'm such a nerd....
Ah, back to original interest level. Warcraft III and Frozen throne were the only ones I actually played and while I caught up with the mythos of everything prior, it's my favourite part of the story. Oh well.

For everyone commenting about making a full CG blizz movie:

I know it's half a joke, but they said that a trailer that lasts around 3 minute can take over 6 months to make. So Imagine a full feature movie.

The only one I'd even heard of before reading the posts above was Ben Foster, and he's the one that most people seem to have ignored. Figures.

Arthas WON'T be in it? You mean the annoying, whiny, angry, self-important a--hole from Warcraft 3 that you have to control through TWO entire campaigns? That Arthas?

This movie's looking better already!
