I think it would have worked better as a MMO myself.,In fact I wish they made a Warhammer 40K onlineline instead. that way it wouldn't have seemed so soulless and unoriginal, and might hold some interest to me.
We all wish they had.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one.

That's actually a really good Idea. Duel campaign modes, one in witch you fight to destroy skynet, the other where you help it succeed
One there is an MMO in development

Two Skynet is Terminator not Warhammer, Terminator is a troop type in warhammer.

I agree with Aedwynn's idea. Inquisitor would be great because:
- You are probably a Space Marine who was recruited by the Inquisition.
- You can have a 'squad' of followers with various abilities and weapons, like the retinue in the Daemonhunters army list.
- You can enter large battles at the behest of NPC generals to assist in "Destroying the forces of Chaos/Eldar/Tau/Anything dumb enough to piss off the Imperial Guard", so that option would be open.
- Psychic powers are a possibility (Lots of Inquisitors are psykers.)
- Multiplayer in which a couple Inquisitors go hunting a Chaos lord in his cult stronghold (Said Chaos Lord is probably an Alpha Legion Champion, because those guys are everywhere).

Just a few of my ideas.

Depends, they could go with so many different gameplay ideas and they'd all work.

What I want to see is something like fable set in a hive world, but far larger and for the Ps3.

I enjoyed some elements of Fire Warrior, even though it was generally horrible. I mean, if you thought Fire Warrior was bad, you never played Space Hulk. Dear Lord what game play issues.

I actually think a vehicle-driven 40k game would be a really good idea. Who doesn't want to drive a Leman Russ around a battlefield? Or how about a Defiler?

That would be cool too! - but I'm talking about the 40k ones.

I can't find a picture of one (particularly the Assault Terminators) on google though.

EDIT: Ooops...bad quote edit >_<

Of course they should, it would be easy. Set it up as a small elite squad of Space Marines is attached to an Imperial Guard warzone to undertake extremely dangerous work.

Tutorial Chapter: Scout training on homeworld.
First Chapter: Imperial vs. Traitor Guard/Uprising in a built up / urban zone fighting alongside Cadians.
Second Chapter: Imperial vs. Ork is a jungle environ fighting alongside Catachans.
Third Chapter: Marines vs. Tyranids in an deserted ice world (everyone butchered).
Finale: Imperial vs. Chaos Space Marine lead attack on your Chapter's homeplanet.

They're already making one.
Well, a third person. But it's a shooter nonetheless. So far it doesn't seem to flow so well, but I just saw gameplay from the first build of the game. You play as a Space Marine and all that.
It's more of a God of War rip off than anything else. The shooting is minimal.

In fact they should probably just do a Horus Heresy game.

Play through all the major battles but telling a separate story alongside it. Obvious finish with the defence of Terra.

Yes, the Horus Heresy, ya know i Actually got bored enough to Sit down and start Reading all about the whole Story base they Established over the years, starting it there or any time after with new things would so work, you could Even-just for that Game randomly make up Space Marine chapters, Imperial Guard defense forces(i bet they whould have to let you progress up the Assassin lists or drive large tanks for anyone to give a damn about any one of them though), or random groups of Chaos or Tyranids, thats one of the great things about the Source base, you can make up your own armys

the thought of Having Crashing a Carnifex into the side of a Armored Column at the start of a ambush sounds rather appealing to me

What they need to do is a third person bash 'em up where you play as an Ork. Not only would that be a good excuse for a game where all you do is fightin', it's got a built in progression system. As you fight and win, youse gets bigga. When youse big enuff you gets da flashy bitz and da hurty moves.

I don't know if anyone remembers, but in the 90's was a certain game going by the name of space hulk. The first ever PC WH40k game, originally a board game. You control a squad of terminators with a mission to clear an abandoned spaceship from Tyranid genestealers.
Perspective is the ye olde Eye of The Beholder dungeon crawler. Brings back memories.

I'de rather like to see an MMOFPS in the style of Planetside. I mean damn that's just perfect. Massive battles who work a bit like the Dawn of War RTS series (with points to capture). But nooooo, the MMO that ís in development is going to be a regular MMORPG. Shame really, it could've been so good...

A tactical shooter like GRAW would be interesting, imagine trying to be tactical with a squad of orks and their mechanical chaos.

Am I the only person here that explicitly will not play a 40k fps if it's centred around the space marines? They have been pushed by Games Workshop so much, made so common, so much a poster boy for 40k as a game, that they have just, to me at least, become cliched and boring.

For me, a far more interesting 40k computer game would focus on the less 'popular' elements of the franchise: an rts based around battlefleet gothic, an open world fpsrpg based around the Necroumndan underhive (that could even be a mmorpg), a mass effect style 3rd person rpg based around the inquisition, or a squad based fps based around the Imperial Guard (I'd say either Krieg at the Siege of Vraks, or Elysians would be the best), could all be very good games, with no need to have the ZOMG 8F00T TALL 133T SUPerHUMEans WITRHt miNI RCOkeT LAUNCHers!"!"!!!21"!21eleventyone! as anything other than NPCs that appear with some rarity as either a powerful ally or a psuedo-boss enemy.

(sory if that got a bit rantish...)

Doesn't look like it'll be much good and the people doing it seem to have almost no knowledge about WH40k. Shame.

As for a 40k shooter, it would work.

1. Imperial Guard Kasrkin squads or Stormtroopers (or mixed squads, maybe with Ogryns and such) would work very well as a game. Single player would be focused on your average story while multiplayer would be more TF2-style, with different classes (psykers, infiltration, etc.). Other races could be easily featured, especially Tau, Eldar and the Orks.

2. Inquisitor game. It could be an FPS, it could be a 3rd person action-adventure game, it could be an RPG. Plenty of options for plot, companions, equipment, etc.

EDIT: Damn, Ultrajoe beat me to the video :p
