The source mod that's in production between Tyranids and marines... or am I getting at completely the wrong end of the stick here?Jandau said:Not even closewhyarecarrots said:Damn the school system for blocking youtube: I shall check later today (I';m guessing that it's Space-Hulk?)![]()
I have been playing space marines for 7 years... AND I WANT IMPERIAL GUARD! Give me a game where i get to play as a Stormtrooper. Have the training mission set in the schola, then skip forwards several to your first combat experience. And remember, stormtrooper squads are usually kept together throughout training then deployed as that same unit.whyarecarrots said:Am I the only person here that explicitly will not play a 40k fps if it's centred around the space marines? They have been pushed by Games Workshop so much, made so common, so much a poster boy for 40k as a game, that they have just, to me at least, become cliched and boring.
For me, a far more interesting 40k computer game would focus on the less 'popular' elements of the franchise: an rts based around battlefleet gothic, an open world fpsrpg based around the Necroumndan underhive (that could even be a mmorpg), a mass effect style 3rd person rpg based around the inquisition, or a squad based fps based around the Imperial Guard (I'd say either Krieg at the Siege of Vraks, or Elysians would be the best), could all be very good games, with no need to have the ZOMG 8F00T TALL 133T SUPerHUMEans WITRHt miNI RCOkeT LAUNCHers!"!"!!!21"!21eleventyone! as anything other than NPCs that appear with some rarity as either a powerful ally or a psuedo-boss enemy.
(sory if that got a bit rantish...)
Wrong stick. 3rd person shooter. Think God of War and Devil May Cry, only with a Space Marine as the protagonist.whyarecarrots said:The source mod that's in production between Tyranids and marines... or am I getting at completely the wrong end of the stick here?Jandau said:Not even closewhyarecarrots said:Damn the school system for blocking youtube: I shall check later today (I';m guessing that it's Space-Hulk?)![]()
Oh right, that thing: sorry, I didn't think it really looked as bad as people were making out, hence what confused me.Jandau said:Wrong stick. 3rd person shooter. That's because they're trying to make it focused more on close combat and actually using strategies and whatnot. Or at least that's what I've come to understand. It's not much like God of War, as far as I see.rossatdi said:Of course they should, it would be easy. Set it up as a small elite squad of Space Marines is attached to an Imperial Guard warzone to undertake extremely dangerous work.
Tutorial Chapter: Scout training on homeworld.
First Chapter: Imperial vs. Traitor Guard/Uprising in a built up / urban zone fighting alongside Cadians.
Second Chapter: Imperial vs. Ork is a jungle environ fighting alongside Catachans.
Third Chapter: Marines vs. Tyranids in an deserted ice world (everyone butchered).
Finale: Imperial vs. Chaos Space Marine lead attack on your Chapter's homeplanet.
It's more of a God of War rip off than anything else. The shooting is minimal.Crazzee said:They're already making one.
Well, a third person. But it's a shooter nonetheless. So far it doesn't seem to flow so well, but I just saw gameplay from the first build of the game. You play as a Space Marine and all that.
There's always the Alpha Legion. They're expected to go off on their lonesome and perform covert ops missions.Pyro Paul said:a Division of relic was working on a Third Person shooter WH40k where you took the role of a Sgt or Assault marine. however this was before the economic collapse and relic did resently cut off a lot of beta projects it was running with to shore up their economic down turn so i'm not sure if it is still in development.
i really see only 1 forseeable route for a FPS WH40k... Chaos Space marine... (in particular a World Eater CSM)
it is really the only faction in the game which rewards independence and personal glory with gifts. for the Loyalist chapters, being kick ass in battle only gets you a shiny new sticker to put on your power armor, where as collecting skulls for the skull throne and spilling blood for the blood god gives you emense warp powers and garner you strength beyond that of mortals... they are also the only faction where you wouldn't really question "well where is the Rest of your squad?" but that is single player.
Multiplayer FPS games might not work really because of the way the individual factions are set up. one Space Marine is supposed to be second to none on the battlefield, and fluff wise, only a handful of space marines can hold of a xeno invasion... what off sets their emense power in most games, the table top and the fluff is that you only have 2-3 on command... where as your enemys numbers messure in the hundreds of thousands.
Thank you for reminding me why I should never get excited about a game because of a franchise or brand name.Ultrajoe said:[HEADING=1]ATTENTION[/HEADING]
