G'day everyone, how are you?

So im thinking that for my week of for uni i am going to start some modeling for Warhammer to learn. no i dont have much expirence, just weapon conversions with beasts of chaos and stuff.

and so i was planning on going out and buying the brettonian battilion 150 Aussie bucks http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1510570&prodId=prod1050119&rootCatGameStyle=
for 8 knights, 1 pegasis and 20 Men at arms and 16 yeomen
so i was thinking of doing to styles of them one was going to be fallen bretts, kind of they went to search for the holy grail in the TK's desert and failed and such and such

and one where it's balls to the wall hollywood style action hero's
for example im going to try and make the pegasis knight stand on the head and body of the bird with a lance converted into a bad ass Sword... that kind of thing

the problem(s) is/are that i am
a. rubish at painting
b. dont really have much tools and that most conversions will be done with fire or heated pins to be uses as cutters
c. and inexpirenced as hell

so i ask any tips that you would have and do you want to see me attempt anything i already have a couple of idea's but i welcome others

Cherrio.

Drybrush the chain mail.

Buy yourself a modelling knife and some proper cutters (if you can buy a battalion you can afford the tools :p).

The experience will come over time - I am still mediocre at painting, I prefer to play than paint :(

as somebody who only paints and has yet to ever play, I'd recommend just taking your time with the painting, not trying to rush, and do something you don't give a shit about first.

Yeah definatly, i am doing the Yeoman first, and i will ow well i go with the improved tools first, because i have gumby hands and i dont want to waste money on just that, and yeah im buying the battalion to last me a while

does anyone know if using heat will get rid of the detail i would expect it to.

also could someone tell me in layman terms how to do basic paint jobs
you could go to a comic shop and skim thru the codexes if they have them up to read. Takes like 10 minutes. Or you could be a champ and BUY them.

Painting can be a bit of a pain in the ass at first. But just remember, pick colors you like and go to town on the models. I'm not a very good painter, but with practice you'll get better.

Oh, and if anyone ever tells you you're using the wrong colors; then you're more than free to punch them in the face. Someone tried to tell me I painted my High Elves wrong because they wear dark blue and red robes instead of bright white. Needless to say, that person is now widely regarded as a no talent ass-clown.

Try the Games Workshop website, last time I looked they had some fairly good general painting guides there and some more in depth detail guides too.

You could paint [a href=http://privateerpress.com/company/mkii-rules-and-model-info-available-for-pdf-download] War Machine [/a] instead. Pieces are much larger and easier to paint.

They're like victroian Mechas!
