I still say they should have gone with a 40k MMO, and not yet another elf, orc whatever fantasy game.
After playing WAR, I can't help but agree with you. It didn't really feel like anything new. I mean, allthough it had some new and innovative concepts, from the ground up it was still just another fantasy MMO.
But whatever, that wasn't the reason I quit. I quit because the game had a problem with nVidia cards at launch, resulting in framerate lag from hell. Also, some of the animations were dull, and I'll be damned if I am going to play a game where I can't stand watching it.
Whilst I'm on an editing spree, the PvP would've been twice as much fun as WoW's, if it wasn't for a rather large flaw; the game wasn't very responsive. I could click a spell, and it would cast it 3 seconds later. By then, whoever was supposed to die was far away and blasting me up with some stupid oneshot spell the damned Bright Wizards had.
Whilst I'm on that subject, the class balance seemed a bit messed up, too. Sorceresses and Bright Wizards were the kings and queens of the hill. Sure, perhaps not in 1v1, but the game was all about the group PvP. Have two groups stand on their respective side of the bridge, and the game would be won by the team with the most casters.
Granted, most of the issues would've been fixed in time, but some of the issues were so serious it felt like I didn't want to give my money to someone who had first delayed the game by two years, then released a half-finnished game.
