A while back I said I was going to start playing Warhammer, and I got the first of my stuff on Tuesday, and here's what I've done with them! Please tell me if my painting is good or sucks, and post pictures of your own!

My first Orc:

My second one:
Third:
Forth Orc:

And, my flag carrier, which I just finished about an hour ago:

I'm going to do my Warboss over the weekend, been saving it for last, but I think the flag carrier was pretty good practice for it.

You have sexy fingertips.

I mean, they look fine, better than anything I could pull off. Can't see any errors from these pictures at least.

Good job :D

Sweet work dude.

I always avoided Fantasy because of the detail you have to put into painting. I just stick my my space marines - Dip in blue paint, touch up, done.

Mad props!

Haha, thanks, was my first time ever painting them, so I didn't know how they'd turn out. I personally think that my first few have somewhat messy eyes.

Looks good.

I've never gotten into mini's all that much, but I picked up some D&D mini's for a board game project I'm working on. Then I noticed how cool(and expensive) some of the Warhammer stuff was.

Kinda curious, and if you don't want to answer that's cool, but how much time and money did that cost? I might want to get into a tabletop game but I can't decide if I want to go for one that I have to paint or just buy HeroScape.

For the basic orcs, they took me about 2 hours each, but the flag carrier took quite a bit more time, I'd say pushing into the 4-hour range. As for the minis themselves, the pack of 4 orcs cost me about 8 dollars, and the flag carrier (and warboss, which isn't painted yet) cost me 23 dollars. However, I ordered them direct from Games Workshop, so you may be able to find them cheaper in stores.

Also, you'd need considerably more units than that to make an army. For orcs, I need about 40 standard orcs and my Warboss just for a small army, and a pack of 20 orcs runs about 30 USD. However, orcs are one of the highest cost races to play, because they are a swarming race. A lower unit count race would be a bit cheaper.

Also, the core rulebook (which I haven't gotten yet, because a new one releases on the 10th) costs about 60-70 USD, and you'll also need to get an individual codex for your own race to go into specifics for about 20 more.

Overall, it's a rather expensive and time consuming hobby, but I'm also new to it, and already enjoying it a lot, just painting it. There's something about making and painting your own miniatures that's just so rewarding.

For a first go they're pretty good, I probably wasn't that good when I started five years ago
