Oh boy, DC is in a world of trouble. Only way they could be moreso is if Marvel picked up the rights to some of DC's vital Justice League members.
Not only that, but Joss also seems to have a pretty amicable working relationship with Marvel predating his making Avengers. At the very least, he's responsible for one of the best X-Men runs in the last what? 10-15 years? I'm tempted to say 20 or more even. Astonishing was one of the best comics I've ever read. It's hard to find writers and directors with his obvious talent with the super hero genre, who've transitioned so well between TV, movies, and comics. The fact that he has done so well in all of those venues certainly proves he has the talent to do well pretty much anywhere, particularly when dealing with super heroes.Scars Unseen said:Joss Whedon, his other qualities aside, was a good pick for The Avengers for two reasons:
1. He is really good at group dynamics in the action genre.
2. Every show he has created that made it past season 1 featured characters that would fit into a superhero comic. And then he made a movie of the one show that didn't make it past season 1 and turned one of the characters into a superhero.
I don't care how good a director you find, if they aren't demonstrably able to match at least the first point, they are a poor pick for a Justice League movie. Point 2 would be a nice bonus, but who the hell can match that?
While I might actually enjoy that (scratch that, I would enjoy that), I think I'd rather have an Atomic Robo movie than have Clevinger stuck writing other people's characters in an attempt to ape Marvel's movie success. My opinion? Whoever directs it, get Brian Clevinger(Atomic Robo, 8-Bit Theater) to write the script. That way you can get at least one part of the movie the nerd cred it needs.
