it's a one minute fucking teaser they released to give people a bit of a taste! ... I'll reiterate, this is a ONE MINUTE CLIP OF A SERIES YOU ARE GETTING FOR FREE.
The fact that it's free doesn't shield it from criticism. Remember, we're not talking about a fan project here; this has movie studio money behind it, and it's basically marketing material. If Warner's intention was to give people a taste of what's in store in Legacy, releasing something this bland seems counterproductive. I agree that it's unfair to judge a series based on a single minute of footage, but remember that Warner got to pick what it showed off, and it chose a scene that really isn't anything special.

I agree with you. It's mainly the fact that people seem to be overly harsh about it and dismissing it before we've had a real episode come out. The first episode comes out in I believe 3 days, so if it's terrible then fine, criticize it. But people should stop acting like this showcases a whole series and that this will be all that happens for 9 episodes.

I think they could have chosen a far better clip or made an actual trailer hinting at what kind of things we can expect, don't get me wrong, but I still don't think it's a valid enough reason for everybody to jump to conclusions. This actually showcases some of the things they're going for, like the fact it will be set before the major events (Kano not having his signature eye). Avatar had a pretty shit teaser trailer and people thought it would flop.

Also, for curiosity, do you know what budget they roughly have for this? I'm interested in what kind of backing a studio like Warner would do for a web series. I assume the episodes will be about 8 minutes in length.

I really enjoyed the very first MK Movie/ 2ndd was horrible to me. Yes it was cheesy, but as a MK fan I enjoyed how they stayed true to the game. IT was a true adaption of the game. THat being said, Im just like, "okay, they fought," right now. 22 seconds doesnt tell me anything right now. Im pretty sure the explosion will give kano his red eye and Jax his arm so whatever. It should be called MK Origins.

Personally I think the "lets make this game translate into real life" Is BS. I didnt play the game for it's "realism" and surely wouldn't want to watch it in realism. In that case you can turn Zelda into a "Green hooded man must save the president's daughter... In New York City" type of movie and everyone will love it.
We sucked at CG back then, we now have the technology to make moves look cool and fatalities look frrign brutal and Saw-ish but now we just modernize everything.
DIdnt work for Legend of chunli and it didn't work when they modernized Dragonball.

After all that, Im still interested in this mini series.

P.S.:BAraka being a scientist who went crazy and installed blades in his own arms(SOMEHOW) to kill pple becuz he failed as doctor?
Reptile being a person with some certain type of skin and eyes inside-out which in some way makes him a physcho who eats flesh? wtf?

I'll take the SUPER FANTASY idea over these "back grounds" any day.

"Wait, this has something to do with Mortal Kombat?" is what I'd say if I hadn't read the title.
However, I'll bet you that this is just a scene and that hopefully the rest will be better.
I like the idea of a reimagination of Mortal Kombat making it "Realistic", but hopefully that means that they'll resort to using more creative ways of fitting in certain character's special moves/fatalities in the real world, like Ermac being a schizophrenic with multiple personalities, explaining why he refers to himself as "we". Stuff like that.

Well. The Rebirth Trailor is not an official trailor for the web series. It was essentially concept art for a possible movie.

Guys, this thing has already been tried, in the 90s. They called it Super Mario Bros.
No, wait. What are you talking about? There was no Super Mario Bros. movie. THAT NEVER HAPPENED. THERE'S NO SUCH THING.

Basicly, this video has NOTHING Mortal Kombat in it. Yes, nicely coreographed fight scene, but nothing of the old 1st movie MK feel that I was waiting for. ):

*going back to watch the rebirth trailer just to wash this one out of my mind*
