Why does this game get so much hate ??

when i played i'll admit that yes i was shocked but also releived
on finding how fun it was, loved the combat system in which you could do all sorts of special moves like slting enemy throats. everything seemed to be perfect (I AM NOT A EMO I HATE EMO's)

so why does this game get so much hate ? the story was great, fighting was superb, acrobatcs were solid as ever....

because it was such a change in tone. The story could've stayed the same but it didn't need to be darker. I literally picked my jaw of the floor when I heard the Prince say *****

and the characters sucked.. But else than that, I agree with you. Personally I think WW was the best of the series.

Because people are stupid really, they somehow expect the Prince to be cracking jokes even though he has a friggin monster chasing him all over the world preventing him from getting a good night sleep. His being pissed all the time and crabby (Despite it making a hell of alot of sense considering the story.) rubs people the wrong way. The only thing I don't like about the game is the music everything else was great.

because part of the charm of prince of persia sands of time is in the setting.

the setting was so different in warrior within that it shocked fans of the prior game.

It's not a bad game, just too different in style and tone to Sands of Time for some people.

The story could have been dark, but it didn't need to be heavy metal dark. It was just such a radical change. I was really pumped on the story when I first heard about him being chased by a paradox ghost, trying to restore balance in time, but the actual game was just way too abrasive.

I haven't played it but I'm gonna go ahead and assume everyone hates it because they liked the first one, and it's not cool to like sequals because you don't come off as an original fan. These people need to do everyone a favour and stop breathing.

Beats me, I guess people just don't like change. Granted, the Prince character was quite different from the friendly character from SoT, as shadow skill just said, if you have spent a good number of years (I think somewhere it said he had spent 7 years being chased by the Dahaka, though I may be wrong) being pursued by a seemingly immortal monster that never got tired, you'd be a bit moody too.

I prefered Two Thrones myself, but WW was still undeniably awesome. That, and the part where you became the Sandwraith had be one of my favourite "WTF" moments of the time, but in a good way. Also, luckily for me, the music they used in the game was the sort of thing I was into at the time, so the change in music didn't bother me either.

Well I love the Prince of Persia trilogy and the new one also - but till now - I played the most with Warrior Within.

I am not kidding - I completed it 40 times :D - I played it and loved it so much - I even installed it with languages I didn't know just to add a little variety every now and then :)
The music was also great since I mostly listen ro rock music - and WW introduced me to my favourite band - Godsmack!
Besides - what was the Prince supposed to say after almost having his eye cut out with a huge sword?
- Oh my!
- That was close!
- How could you?!
Or just sit down and start crying - Whyyy? Why do I even fight? I should just die :( - Now that would have been emo - he just got angry and badass :)

Imagine being the Prince, you watched your father turn into a monster, had to kill your father, met Farrah, saw her die finally unfucked everything only to have an apparently invincible monster start chasing you...............Yea you'll be friendly. I'll never understand the hatred this game gets.

Yeah, being strung-out would probably give me an American accent too...

But seriously, in terms of gameplay, there really wasn't anything wrong with Warrior Within. The overall presentation suffered by:

1) the music
2) the horrible horrible voice acting
3) the horrible horrible dialouge

Seriously, if I have to mute my TV because I can't stand to listen to one more improbably dressed hooker tell me that they "like me in this position", the designer has done something wrong, especially when I loved the comments and cutscenes in SoT and TT.

In short, playing Sands of Time was like being part of a wonderful fairytale storybook. Playing Warrior Within was like being part of a teenage goth's diary.

I don't agree with number 1 because I kinda liked the music but the voice acting was terrible. The dialouge was "Meh". Not so bad like in Uncharted though.

I really like Warrior Withing. Probably because of the dark almost goth like atmosphere and the Dahaka parts. I can understand why people don't like it.

The music is a tricky thing though, and here's why. It belonged in that atmosphere, true, but I would argue that "that atmosphere" did not belong in the sequel to Sands of Time.

Anyway, people asked what the problem is, that's it. Their presentation was terrible. To spoof the rating system that Gametrailers would use:

Gameplay - 9
Story - 7
Presentation - 4

The music is one of my favorite parts of the game. I think rock (or fast music in general) fits really well with the fast paced action.

I can see how it could affects people who, for some reason, hates rock. But personally I have never thought a game was bad because of its music, ever..unless they release Prince of Persia: country & western style!

I love rock and metal music, and I thought it was gaudy and awful in a prince of persia game. different strokes for different folks I guess

The main reason I disliked WW wasn't actually the change of mood. It was the focus on the combat.

The best bits of sands of time were the platforming and puzzle solving. The combat was good enough and fights never lasted too long allowing the superior platforming and puzzle solving to take up most of the game.

In WW, though, the platforming and puzzle solving became small segments between giant fights. The combat was certain improved but it still wasn't good enough to justify making it the main gameplay mechanic. With the platforming and puzzles almost non-existent, all that was left was a half decent hack n slasher.

It made sense for him to go through a transformation, but perhaps it was all too sudden a transformation.

I love Warrior Within. For sure, not everything works perfectly but if the characters and music are so annoying, you can just play with the sound down. I kind of liked the different tone though, and the gameplay is fantastic. I think people who trash this game should play Devil May Cry 2 to see how a sequel can REALLY be messed up.

I liked Warrior Within for the most part; except the most pathetic, useless, and possibly infuriating map devised by man. However, I think it became too much of a lager-swilling lad-culture item when it started throwing in loads of sexual references, making everyone wear leather belts instead of actual clothes, and making the Prince closer to a raging maniac than what he was before.

I accept that being chased by an unstoppable...thing...for however-many-years would make you quite crabby, but it doesn't explain why you suddenly decide the best course of action for ANY kind of encounter is to fuck with time.

Then the inclusion of "wait, teenagers like this sort of stuff" emo/metal stereotypes being chucked in did add a rather odd shift in gears for me. To be honest, I quite liked it, and I think the music did work better with the improved combat, but at the same time I couldn't help but feel patronised as an audience.

That's just my thoughts anyway...

Bah, i never played SoT, and i found the Princes "bad-ass" attitude laughable...
