I came across this game in Beta testing last week on a tip from a gaming magazine. After just a couple days playing it, I went out and snagged a pre-order kit...maybe the second or third time I've done that in all my years of gaming. Anyone else try this game, and if so what do you think? I'm stoked!

It's a mix of Counter-Strike and the Battlefield series. FPS all the way, you select a server, then pick one of three game channels: Close Combat (small maps, with a gameplay called Explosive that's pretty much the same as CS), Special Ops (medium maps with capture/spawn points just like BF), or Battleground (the same as Special Ops but with the biggest maps and vehicles).

It also has a persistant aspect to it: you gain experience and money (Dinars) for each fight, then can use the money at the Weapons shop to lease better weapons for your next battle. I'm not sure what the experience does (besides increasing your rank), I haven't seen it affect gameplay...just bragging rights so far.

This IS still in beta, so there are sure to be changes down the road (including new weapons, maps, etc). Another cool think is that the basic game is free, with expansions and certain content available to purchase if you wish. There is some lag on full servers, but so far I've had pretty good gameplay overall, and most people are cool about newbies such as myself playing.

Check it out, fans of CS/BF.

I was a Beta Tester for Warrock since the beginning of Open Beta.

It's a pity none of you guys are acquainted with the game enough to know what happened when it went retail, about the big fiasco and the giant rift between beta players and the development team. It was really quite a story.

But maybe it meant more to me since it was a game I happened to follow more closely than some.
