Was I insulted?

Back story:
I set out to help my friend and his fiance move this weekend, it was planned out for two days load up our cars once or twice Friday and then use the U haul on Saturday. Friday afternoon we get a call saying that U Haul is overbooked and they can't give us the U Haul (that we booked a month ago) on Saturday, but they would gladly give us a $50 discount and give us one on Sunday. Since my friend's lease was up on Saturday there was no way this would work. Instead his fiances friend borrow her dad's truck and drive down to help us move the big stuff (Couch, table, treadmill, etc.) She and my friend Fiance would drive the truck to the new apartment, and me and my friend would follow behind them to make sure nothing went wrong.

Event:
While we were packing up the truck it was obvious she was a little nervous so jokingly I said "On the bright side if anything goes wrong it will only kill us" (us = me and my friend) she responds with "I don't want...." then there was a thirty second pause or so and "Well, I don't really want anyone to die"

Question:
Was I somehow insulted? Not completely sure but I can't shake the feeling that I missed something.

EDIT: Referring to her as "my friend's fiance's friend" is a little misleading, she is also friends with my friend, and if not my friend than close enough that she has no problem threatening me with violence (jokingly of course) when I make fun of her (jokingly again) or sharing alcoholic beverages.

EDIT 2: She knew it was a joke

Eh, you're reading too much into it. Chances are her pause was her (re)processing what exactly you said to make sure she responded properly.

Well, it sounds like she was about to say "I don't want *your friend* to die", but then realised that sounded a bit like she was suggesting she doesn't care if you died so thought about saying "I don't want you to die", and then decided that sounded a bit soppy because she's not particularly close to you so she settled on stating matter-of-fact-ly that she wouldn't want you or anyone else dying either.

Hardly an insult, the worst you can take from that is that she feels like she doesn't know you very well.

I just chose that description because it was the simplest way to describe her.

That or "I do not want to die" but stopped since she thought that might sound very selfish.

I agree that it isn't an insult it is just someone who tried to reword the sentence to make it sound less bad.

I've seen people feel insulted over compliments but even those pale in comparison to your straw grabbing...
No it was not an insult it was a borked statement, but hey if you fancy yourself insulted we can hardly stop you.

Not an insult, although she might not have understood your sense of humor.

I suppose I am, it was a better option than my other thought on it though.

Wait what? How could that possibly be construed as an insult? She probably just spaced out or something. What do you imagine she was about to say? I seriously want you to explain it to me again because I don't even know what's happening anymore. The fact that you suspect that was a hidden insult has turned my world completely upside down.

You're reading way too much in to this. The issues with the overbooked U-Haul, making sure the move goes smoothly, trying to do it all as quickly and safely as possible etc would be enough to have anyone preoccupied.

Your joke fell flat on its face, no big deal.
