if it did turn out like the way depicted in Firefly/Serenity then it would be a HIGE coincidence but really cool.

This.

But also, I didn't know China bought the U.S. I just thought those were the 2 world superpowers when Earth became overcrowded and they moved out to that new galaxy. That why they speak English 7 Chinese.

It'd be a coincidence but a cool one.

I was seriously tempted to post the entire lyrics to the Bad Horse chorus.
Don't. He'll make you his mare.

Joss Whedon selected china because it's currently a Superpower. Joss Whedon's future had both Western and Asian influences. It's kind of a mix between our cultures. It's not like China created the totalitarian government.

The backstory's more like the American civil war, told from the losing side (the browncoats are the confederates). It also has British colonial undertones.

Bad Horse
Bad Horse
Bad Horse
Bad Horse

He rides across the nation
The thoroughbred of sin
He got the application
You just sent in

It needs evaluation
So let the games begin
A heinous crime, a show of force
A murder would be nice of course

Bad Horse
Bad Horse
Bad Horse
He?s Bad

The Evil League of Evil
Is watching so beware
The grade that you receive
Will be your last we swear

So make the Bad Horse gleeful
Or he?ll make you his mare?.

Get/You?re saddled up
There?s no recourse
It?s Hi-Ho Silver
Signed Bad Horse

I couldn't resist, but in answer to the thread. If china called in all the debt the US has built up with them then they would and in some senses already do own the US.

Yes, I agree with this statement. Please read the above quote by ThrobbingEgo.

As for you shadowstriker86, I'd say that you're just bored.

Even if China called in all our dept, they wouldn't be in much of a position to enforce payment, we have more nukes. Despite its awesomeness, the Firefly-Serenity future is unlikely.

No. That's stupid.

China is a communist country, my friend. And it turns out the secret to make communism work is to complete in a capitalist market. They need us to stay just the way we are so we can spend money on their cheap knockoff crap. They won't gain anything if they completely take us over. Who would they sell their overpriced, undermade goods to? Australia? Ha ha ha ha ha!

actually it has nothing to do with him being a visionary, there's been lots of people saying that china will take over by attrition for years, it's simple math really

China would never buy us out because we are their biggest spenders and investors. Without us they would have nobody to sell their product to.
