Was the water temple in Ocarina of Time really that difficult?

I just thought it was a little time consuming but not nearly impossible as everyone claims it is.

I loathe it with all my heart, mind, and soul.

It made me motion sick and it caused great burnout for me in regards to the game.

Then again I played OoT about 12 times, so my memory is a little fuzzy on the first time through

No, it wasn't difficult.
Just the annoyance of the time it took to take boots on and off, combined with shadow link.

Many people who played the game when it was relatively new were much, much younger. To an 8-10 year-old, I'm sure it seemed a daunting task.

I had more trouble with the Shadow Temple than the Water Temple. To consider it really hard is a hyperbole in my eyes. The only part that bugged me a lot was the one part where you hookshot up the platforms drifting down a waterfall, but even that wasn't THAT hard.

I missed a key but the temple wasnt difficult just a bit time consuming on the first play through.

Then again, I never beat OOT, so I shouldn't be allowed to talk.

I never thought so. Like Navi hate, it's something I didn't know people thought until I started hearing it on the internet many years later.

Not for me. I played it on the gamecube special edition and aside from messing with the water levels a few times when getting stuck I didn't have any trouble. It definitely doesn't stick out as any harder then any other dungeon.

I found it to be one of the easier temples. Yeah it's a pain to have to keep taking your boots on and off, but other then that it was nowhere near as annoying as the shadow temple.

Its very annoying to navigate, mostly.
But the dark link fight is very fun. Just that fight makes the temple almost worth completing.

I still prefer OOT's water temple to the one in majora mask. I must have lost hours running around in confusion in that one.

I never found it difficult, just tedious and time consuming. I never found the fight with Dark Link to be hard either.

Difficult isn't really the word I'd use. Like others here said, it's more obnoxiously tedious than actually difficult. Though those hopping spiders were always kind of a ***** to kill...

it's both my favorite and most hated temple. even now i still fuck something up when i play.
