I am trying to watch and record tv on my computer and bought this exact computer model purely to do it as it comes with a built-in HD Tuner that allows it to do so. When I try to do anything related to the TV on my computer it comes up with this error message:

"video error files needed to display video are not installed or are not working correctly. Restart Windows Media Center or restart your computer."

This comes up when I click on anything, such as guide or watch live tv. I also attempted to watch the sample video they have on there and nothing happens when I click play on that. The pictures and music still work, though, just not the tv watching part. This is my first attempt at trying to do it.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can correct this problem?

MY guess, and mind you this is mainly speculation, is you've got corrupt video drivers. Try reinstalling your drivers for Media Player/ Center and see if that helps.

How exactly do I do this?

If you can I would try to open Windows Media Center, go to Tasks > Settings > General > Windows Media Center Setup > Run Setup Again. If you can't get Media Center to open, then I'd check out the Microsoft website for the drivers.
