Sorry, this movie came out in 2009, but today, I installed a Bluray player in my computer, hooked it up to a 1080P LED 32" display and just got a new set of analog Black Ops 5.1 surround sound head set and tried it all out with the bluray edition of Watchmen and I am just in awe.

Did some of us really quibble with this brilliant adaptation of the greatest geek fest of all time? Yeah, I'm geeking out on my new toys, but I'm also in awe of the acting, direction, art design, sound, costumes, music sound track, etc. This movie is just brilliant.

You would think the episodic nature of the story would make watching this movie unpleasant, tiresome, and unwatchable (think Robocop 2 by Frank Miller, which I hoped would be awesome). Yet, this all works so well. The pacing is smooth and unforced. It is episodic yet gripping and fascinating.

The reverence for the source material is almost unmatched. I can't think of anything as word for word as this (fails a bit at the end... DID I JUST QUIBBLE!??!?!) Can't help it. I don't understand why (If you've read the series) Snyder stayed so on point through over 2 hours, but kinda chickened out at the end like that. But this is such a small quible. I'm watching Night Owl and Silk Spectre take out Archie and can't get over how exciting and enobling this scene is. It tops the heroics of just about anything in the Xmen and FF series I can think of. These are heroes being heroes.

I think we are all (us geeks anyway) just blessed that we live in such a time as we can enjoy something like this.

Maybe we need to still be hyper critical and quibble with greatness, but I hope our quibbles don't blind us to such amazing achievements. We all should be grateful.

Absolutely fantastic movie. The directors cut is pure perfection. Adds that little bit of dialogue to some scenes (ie: the mars scenes) that made it that bit more deep and coherent. Dr. Manhattans decision to returned to earth seemed really... sudden in the theatrical version.

I thought it was awesome. I did read the comic beforehand, so if you though it was hard to follow or something like that, maybe that's a fair complaint. I already knew the story so I understood everything quite clearly.

The change at the ending didn't actually bother me, and I usually hate unnecessarily changes from the source material. It still made sense in the story, and was more accessible of an outcome than the crazy fake inter-dimensional alien thing that they had no time to build up to or foreshadow (the minor plots about certain people disappearing and all that).

Kinda gets to the inexplicable nature of existence though. I recall jumping out of my chair when I realized Laurie's parentage. The movie doesn't do that particular part of the comic justice, but, again a quibble. How often does a movie come out that is anything like this? (Liked Kick Ass, wanta see Super).

ehh, I didnt really like it, I thought the acting kind of sucked especially the new silk specters, really the favorite part of it was the first 15 minutes, I really liked the credit sum up scene at the start

I think the change to the end of the movie was mostly one of necessity. The side plot that builds up to the original end would not only have been costly, time consuming and confusing to newcomers, but is also more adherent and relevant to the original medium in which the story was presented.

You should definitely go see Super. It's almost more true to Kick-Ass' comic than the Kick-Ass movie in a way.

I thought the opening worth the entire price of admission. If the rest of the movie sucked (which it didn't)I'd have been satisfied with that. When that woman recreates the navy man/nurse kiss?!?!? Mothman biting an EMT? Wow!

From what I heard, that sounds acurate. I think Kick Ass wimped out in some ways that I don't think Super will. Still, Kick Ass was one of my top 5 (top 3) of that year... if that means Super was that much better, I can't wait to see it.

They played Leonard Cohen, why they chose that version of the song I'll never know but they made that scene more awkward than it needed to be by a subpar soundtrack.
Call me petty but that threw the movie for me, I couldn't help but howl with laughter at what was supposed to be a tender, sincere moment.

I would agree with the assessment that the opening was worth the price of admission, that was a damn good opening

You mean the love making scene with Hallelujah? I love that scene! Very true to the comic as well, with her leaning on the fire throwing weapon.

It was as good a Watchman film as there could have been. I have no complaints. Yes it wasn't as good as the comics, but heck, it was never going to be. You can't have a 7 hour long film (at least, not these days) and breaking it up into chunks would not have worked.

Although not perfect (what film is), it's a pretty good film. Far better than I had thought.

The very same, I just think that version of the song was a poor, poor choice. I know why they chose it specifically and it fits but I just howled through that part.
I'd have gone for Jeff Buckley's version but hey ho.

I... third? fourth? I support this sentiment! Best opening I've ever seen in a film, the song choice was flawless.

In fact, I'm gonna go watch it on youtube right now, that's how damn good it is.

I just finished watching Dr. Manhattan realize the miracle that is Laurie. I am Vaklempt. Now they are playing "Watchtower" as Rorschach and Night Owl invade Ozymandius's lair. This aint your average action/fantasy/comic movie. I am still in awe. When did you watch this last?

I you have even a 1/2 decent home theatre, you owe it to yourself to watch it ASAP. What is your home theatre like? What is the last best experience you had (I assume pretty good as you have bluray).
