Sorry for the double post: but I regret that Rorchach's pshyciatrist gets such short shrift. In the comic book, he is ulimately a good man who dies while trying to help his fellow human beings. It is a beautiful scene despite its futility. If anything, it makes you angry that evil can circumscribe human goodness.

In the movie, he doesn't move beyond venality, which is unfortunate.

60 inch flat screen 1080 with surround sound, not the best but no slouch

No slouch at all! I got a slightly smaller system, 55". What is the last best thing you watched on it? Again, you gotta watch this on that system some time. I am just having a blast.

In fact, I'm gonna go watch it on youtube right now, that's how damn good it is.

I hope you get to see it in hi def sometime soon. It is just spectacular.

And speaking from the standpoint of someone who DIDN'T read the comic, the movie was very....... Alright. Not a masterpiece. The costumes were pretty cool, the cinematography was good. Other than that, eh.

All I heard was 'awful awful awful'. I bought it on a whim and was absolutely blown away. One of my favorite films of 09...seriously amazing stuff.

You probably heard that from people who went in expecting a standard superhero movie that didn't want them to think. I heard a lot of that too.

Also -brace yourself- having read the comic, I'd say the V for Vendetta movie was actually better than the comic.

I like watchmen a lot, I couldn't really understand at all why so many people hated it. Maybe they were going in thinking it was going to be a superhero movie...

Loved V, the book. Matched Watchmen IMHO. Have you read Miracleman? It was the inspiration for the Matrix series, but better.

What goes through my head: this was so fan freakin tastick, what do we expect to top it? my hope is that the fans support works like this so that Hwood backs similar works of briliiance. i mean, I liked Losers, but it just wasn't in this league.

I don't understand why (If you've read the series) Snyder stayed so on point through over 2 hours, but kinda chickened out at the end like that.

Because the amount of time to foreshadow the island with missing comic artists and scientists would have taken far too much of the movie, and the current ending was more in fitting with the movie's tone.

I don't recall Night Owl beating up Ozymandious. I would have liked to have seen Dr. Manhattan walk across the swimming pool and personally tell Veit that nothing ever ends (the ends don't justify the means).

Still, that is a small quibble given what a fantastic movie this is. We were lucky to have it. I don't know of anything coming up on par.

I loved it but I read the books just before I watched the movie. I was never sure just how much people who weren't familiar with the source material would enjoy it, or at least understand the plot line, because it seemed a bit too crowded at times. None of my friends watched it and frankly I didn't care enough about other people's opinions to ask about it online. So that's the biggest fault I could find - perhaps staying too close to the source material which was created for another medium.

It also has possibly one of the greatest opening credits ever.

Ghost in the Shell may have been as well, but, for example, the climactic fight scene with Agent Smith at the end was almost a shot for shot re-do of the first battle between Miracle Man and Kid Miracle Man . Sounds silly, I know, but it was written by Alan Moore and was anything but silly. The premise, like Matrix, is that the silly adventures of Miracle Man and family (British version of Shazam) were a a computer generated virtual reality meant to control this super being so that Britain, at a time when they did not have the bomb, would have a super weapon they could direct. It was originally released as Marvel Man (Marvel Comics threatened suit so they changed it to Miracle Man, which ended up being more fitting given some of the theological themes of the book) way back in the early to mid 1980s... about 15-20 years before the Matrix movies.

I think many of the people who really disliked it were not expecting to see a social commentary on how stupid we as a people are and how worthless the people we put on pedestal are. I guess that's a little harsh...how idiotic we can be when in large crowds, and how we shouldn't worship people with power, they're just like us, maybe worse (comedian).

The Matrix is actually inspired by A LOT of stuff, kinda like Star Wars. You can point at a lot of stuff that came before it and you would be at least somewhat right.

On Topic: Yeah, despite having a few mayor problems, mainly a hokey pacing, especially in the theatrical version, and an at times horrible soundtrack (even though it has moments of brilliance) it's possibly the best Watchmen Adaption one can ask for and a oftentimes pretty cool movie to boot.

I loved the film, I really did. I think a lot of the problem that people have with it is a) mild whiplash against Snyder's limited directorial playbook, b) ragingly unpleasable fanboyism (and I say this as an unapologetic Moore fanboy - seriously, tattoos and all) who would've crucified the film if it had deviated one iota from the novel and still bitched about being a frame-for-frame remake in places, and c) the inevitable backlash from Ol' Crazy-Beard (again, said as a dementedly devoted fan) himself.
