<color=brown>"Scientists and wizards are a lot alike, you're right. In fact, from many myths and legends in my time, it's the magicians who are the intellectuals and investigators who think and study the world around them through imagination and experimentation. Such is the drive of the scientist. The only difference is that in my universe we think that whatever appears as magic is just unexplained physics. If it exists then there must be some unknown law that permits it to exist. Science is all about explanations, through hard evidence and testing."

"Thanks. You feel the same as I remember though, and that's a compliment." Four said as she continued caressing Tanner's back. "I miss you too, if there was a reasonable way to bring you back I'd do it in a heartbeat...but I just can't see a way. I'm sorry I can't bring you back..."

"Hopefully so. I'd rather go to Japan, or really anywhere else, than China right now though..." Rose said, her gaze drifting around the room and eventually settling on her lap.

"I see. I am afraid my magic, being a cleric, requires more of what you might call 'blind faith' to my patron goddess, rather than any evidence." Grace said as she looked away from her book.

"You don't have to be sorry. This, this right here? This is enough for me." I say as I plant another kiss on Four. I lay back and bring Four with me so her head is resting on my chest. I stay like this for a while, gently rubbing her back like she did mine. ".........I don't know........maybe......it would be alright if......if we had sex......" I say out loud.

 

[Saltyk]

"Is something wrong, Rose?" Riou asks the girl as she looks at her lap. Don't get depressed again...

 

[Slenn]

<color=brown>"Hmmm. Well, you can you still study the nature of your goddess? I'm agnostic, but maybe you could try that. Maybe there's a pattern. Are you allowed to question your faith? Not to say that faith is bad, but is there a function of your magic output versus the amount of faith you put into your goddess? Maybe sometime you could sit down and ask yourself, 'What brings me to give faith in my goddess?' 'What does the goddess give in return to me?'"

 

[Drakmorg]

Four's face lit up, then darkened a little. "Are you sure?...I mean I wouldn't want you to do it if it'd make you feel uncomfortable...I wouldn't want to be the only one enjoying it...it'd just feel wrong to me."
I'm pretty sure he's lying to make me feel better...but for some I reason I don't care right now.

"Hmm? Oh, no. Nothing right now. I was just thinking about some things I've...heard." Rose said, bringing her head up to face Riou again.

I stay quiet for a long time, just holding Four close to me. Suddenly tears are running down my face as I come to a conclusion. "I'm...I'm sorry..." I mutter to Four as I rub my eyes.

Grace gives a knowing smile. "I am under the influence of the goddess Nyx. She is the goddess of sleep, night, and death. Most creatures sleep, it is always night somewhere, and everything dies, eventually. I see no need to question my goddess, and my faith is strong so I am strong...for the most part." she says.

 

[Slenn]

Sara nods in approval. <color=brown>"Well then, I wouldn't call that blind faith. I'd say you have a very strong grasp of what your divine beings do. And you harness your understanding of it efficiently. But... what is it that you're unsure about?" She takes a bigger sip of tea, thanks to it cooling down after a while.

 

[Saltyk]

"You've heard things? Like what?" Riou looks at Rose, confused. "I know I'm kinda new, here, but I am not aware of anything being mentioned about this Asia, before, now."

 

[Outisakanobody]

"Sorry? I do not understand your question." Grace said to Sara.

 

[Drakmorg]

"Please don't cry Tanner...you'll make me cry...and you know how I get when I start crying." Four said, trying to cheer Tanner up as tears threatened to start rolling down her face from seeing Tanner in such a state. She rubbed a hand over Tanner's chest, trying to be reassuring.

"I-It's not in good shape. At least that's what I've heard, from...people I know. We mostly just communicate...over the internet." Rose said, trying to not sounds like she was covering her own ass.

 

[Slenn]

<color=brown>"Well, you said 'for the most part' in that last phrase. In addition you brought up that you were afraid of the magic that you used because you used something along the lines of 'blind faith.' "

 

[Saltyk]

"I'm not sure what this 'enter-net' is, but what have they been saying?" Riou asks.

OoC: Incidentally, it wouldn't be shocking to him to learn she is a chronicler or anything.

"You miss understand me. Any weakness or fear comes from within me and has little to nothing to do with my faith in my goddess. My inner frailty is the only thing that makes me weak." Grace tried to explain in an even manner.

"I know, I know. That's why I'm sorry. You shouldn't have to see me like this." I say to Four as I continue to rub my eyes. "I'm also sorry...for making such a problem out of this...this whole sex thing. I've been thinking really hard about this and...why? Why am I even doing it anymore? All I'm doing is making myself and you...and Mia, more unhappy. I can never be a full psychologist now that I'm dead, so I've got not more standards to live up to, right? So you know what? Who the hell cares, cause I don't." I say as I seize Four and bring her into another, slightly rougher, kiss as I allow my hands to caress her body.

 

[Slenn]

Sara nods as an indication for her understanding.
<color=brown>"Ahhhhh.... And now I do understand." Sara said. <color=brown>"So what did you and Gerry do before you came here? And, it's embarrassing, but I forget how you got here in the first place."

"Well..we mostly traveled. I offered my services as a healer where ever I was needed, which was quite a lot considering the various wars and conflicts that were always cropping up. As for how we got here...I am not sure. We were investigating a cave that was said to be housing a devilish cult, my party fought with the members of this cult, I did battle with the head of the cult, and then...My memory grows hazy until we ended up in the streets of London, and Gerry can remember no more then I can." Grace explains.

 

[Drakmorg]

"Well, China, a really, really big country in Asia, recently had a regime change. And the new leader is pretty brutal...at least that's what I've heard." Rose said. She realized that Riou might not actually find her omniscience to be a weird or shocking thing, but she was in too deep to turn back without looking silly now.

Four was taken by surprise by Tanner's sudden sexual aggression. Then she realized that in some way it was exactly what she wanted, so she started getting into it. She kissed Tanner back and started caressing him lovingly with her hands and tail.
Wait, is this right? Just letting him...'give up' like this?
Who cares? Just enjoy it for now.

I end the kiss suddenly and look at Four very seriously. "You don't have any problems with this do you? And be honest, please." I say, still caressing her backside a bit.

 

[Saltyk]

Riou looks at his right hand for a moment. "Then, I know we'll be going there at some point. The Bright Shield Rune can't resist conflict... And I can't ignore people in need." He looks at Rose.

 

[Slenn]

<color=brown>"Hmmmm... well to make it fair I guess I'll explain our story as well. Before we came here we were assigned to investigate and protect various alien civilizations in order to understand how a civilization works. We study our powers and learn about civilizations to learn the purpose of the unknown menace referred to as the 'dark being' who has consumed many lives from countless worlds. We got called here after something was messing with our timeline again. So we used a time machine to come back here and take care of whatever triggered the event or whatnot."

<color=brown>"I believe it's about time I turned in. Goodnight Grace. And might I compliment you on your name? It fits you well." She smiled and turned to her room.
