After swiping the armour from the corpse, Balthier began putting it on, though he left the helmet to avoid being mistaken for the enemy. Hearing gunshots comming from the bridge, Balthier began running over, but momentarily stopped when he saw a girl out of the corner of his eye. He looked at her for a moment, but quickly dismissed the thought and turned around, only to find par of the walkway had collapsed. Cursing his luck, Balthier began moving along the railing. Once he reached the bridge, Balthier drew his rifle, but couldn't see very well, the bridge was filled with smoke when some stranger tossed a smoke bomb inside. Not wanting to throw a bomb, knowing fullwell what would happen should he attempt that, Balthier waited.
Making a mental note to move Bullet later, Edgar climbed the stairs. He too moved next to the railing of the collapsed walkway and eventually reached the bridge. Intending to make good use of the smoke screen, Edgar reached into his coat and pulled out the Drill as he ran in. Once he found one of the infantry men in the smoke, the thrusted the drill towards him.
