Rozalin nodded to Ratsel and smiled a bit as she left. Turning back to Rex, she said, "Perhaps I should check your wound, just to be safe. I may have accidentally made the wrapping too tight anyhow." She knelt down at Rex's side and started removing the bandages on his chest. Upon seeing that the wound had already healed, she said, "On my! It's practically not even visible any more. Perhaps I am not as bad a healer as I thought."
"Goodnight Miss Rin." Yukimaru said pleasantly as Rin left. Though Yukimaru gave her a disapproving stare as she walked off. I hope she only said what she said about honor because she didn't know I was a shinobi. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to accept having my honor so blatantly slandered as such. She absentmindedly waved back to Yukino as she noticed her.

"Well... I think it is about time we headed to bed. It's good to see you're okay. You gave us quite the scare." Marisa said, seeing as how Rex was all better.

<color=red>"I guess in the morning, I should check back with Gensokyo to see what might be happening."

The two retired to a rented room in the inn.

OOC: G'night all!

Rex nods absentmindedly, knowing what actually happened. Erica wasn't in much of a position to correct her as well. "Yeah, thanks for that.." He sits up and slowly rises to his feet. "As much as I'd like to lie down here, those infected things are still milling around. Let's get back into the inn."
Yukino walks up to Yukimaru and smiles a bit. "Penny for your thoughts, Yukimaru?"

OoC: Oh god, Desert Bus dramatic reading of 50 shades of Gray... My sides... They can't handle this...

Rozalin nodded to Rex and stood up. "Agreed. Perhaps someone should stay awake and keep watch so we cannot be taken by surprise." She suggested as she walked over to the doorway and headed back to the inn.
"Hmm? Oh, it's nothing, zam. Just thinking about something that Miss Rin said earlier, zam." Yukimaru replied.

@Outis: So do I, actually. My mood is like a roller-coaster...

@Drak + @Outis: So, what I'm supposed to take away from this is... if it's stale, add zombies?

Rex slowly walks behind Roz and shrugs as he enters the inn. "I'd leave that to the fox."
Yukino tilts her head a bit. "And what was that that she said to you?"

@Dot: ...Maybe. Now that I think about it, it worked for WAOA II. Someone needs to write that down.

"I suppose that could work. From what I know of her, she seems cautious enough for the job." Seeing Rex seem to lag behind her, Rozalin turned around to face him after the two entered the inn. "Now, do you need any help getting to your room?"
"She said that sneaking about isn't honorable, zam. I don't know why I allow something so trivial to irk me, zam, but I can't help but feel insulted, zam." Yukimaru said as she crossed her arms.

@Drak: -various scribbling noises-

Rex's eye twitches slightly in annoyance. "I've told you... I'm. FINE. I can manage a set of stairs if I can manage a bullet to the chest." He nods a bit. "Yeah... She can be quite tenacious at times. Hopefully your experiences with her weren't horrible."
Yukino scoffs a bit in response. "Let me guess. She's some one who only believes in face-to-face combat, as if we're still living in the feudal era. Don't let that get to you. Sneaking is an honorable way to get a one-up on your enemy. If they can't sense you, they deserve what's coming to them. That's all." She smiles a bit afterward. "But you already knew that, I presume."

Rozalin was rather taken aback by Rex snapping at her. "I apologize. I didn't mean to offend you." Why does this seem so familiar...oh yes, back with the blue-haired fellow...Ryu, I think his name was? I wonder what ever happened to him? "I'll try to avoid treating you as such in the future. It's just that, normally people don't shrug off wounds so quickly. I was concerned you might still be suffering from your wounds. But if you insist that is not the case, I'll not press the issue any further." She said, bowing apologetically. Righting herself, she said, "Well, she did accuse me of being a spy. But thankfully that was quickly disproven."
Yukimaru nodded to Yukino. "She didn't say as much with her words, but her demeanor certainly put out that message, zam. And of course I already knew that, zam. But...honor is really the only thing I have left, zam. So I can't help but get more than a little irritable when someone insults it, zam."

Rex sighs a bit before relaxing himself. He scratches the back of his head and looks down, a little embarressed with himself. "You don't need to apologize... I've just been a bit on edge lately. " He nods a bit. "That makes sense for her to do. From what I know about her, her entire clan got wiped by one solitary person. Good thing her suspicion of you was disproven, she wouldn't have held back at all."
Yukino bows her head slightly somewhat deep in thought. "I see. So why is it that honor is the only thing left for you?"

"Understandable. I think we've all been a bit on edge lately." Rozalin commented. She looked down at the ground for a moment before continuing. "How horrible, to have all of one's family killed. That must have been quite hard on her."
Yukimaru breathed in deeply and sighed before continuing. "My clan is all dead and my home is gone, zam. Ever since my brother Fubuki disappeared...[sub]and aside from that one girl...maybe[/sub]...that makes me the last of the Snow Clan, zam. So I devoted my life to hunting down the man responsible, zam. The honor of fulfilling the promise of vengeance I made to my clan is all I have left, zam."

OOC: I think I'm starting to notice a pattern in some characters back-stories for this thread...

OoC: Yeah... Guess we love us a lot of Lone Survivior trope.

Rex nods. "Yeah, I can relate, more or less." He adopts a bit of a sad look as he looks away as well.
Yukino bows her head toward the other shinobi, her voice slightly saddened. "To think I'd have met someone so like me... and yet so different from me." She smiles to herself a bit. "I wish you good luck, Yukimaru-san."

@Dot: Oh! We can start a club! The 'My entire family is dead' club!

"Oh? Oh. I suppose it would be rude to try and satiate my curiosity." Rozalin solemnly commented.
Yukimaru raised an eyebrow at Yukino, not knowing what she was talking about. She bowed to Yukino and said, "While I appreciate the sentiment, it means little to me, zam. I don't hold any illusions of being able to succeed, zam. The man I'm after is very powerful, zam. I only survived when I was a child because I ran away, zam."

@Drak: Sounds like it would be something like AA for angsty jRPG protagonists. ...I like it.
Also, Night.

Rex shakes his head. "There isn't much to say about it. I killed my parents because they were abusive. Now then, I've got to get to sleep. Night" Rex gives Roz a wave as he walks into his room and sleeps.
Yukino puts her hands behind her head and looks up at the smog. "Is that so? All the more reason to put your entire being into building yourself up to destroy him. That's the only reason I've managed to last so long myself. I'll stay on lookout, go rest up if you want." She hops onto a nearby rooftop and stands guard, slashing any infected that may come close to the inn.

Rozalin seemed utterly stunned by what Rex had said. "I...you...y-you just killed your parents? T-That's...I couldn't even imagine doing something like that!...You must have been treated truly poorly..." At least father never treated me poorly...openly... She managed to reply. She started nervously rubbing at the pendant around her neck. She hardly noticed Rex had left until several minutes after. Sighing, she took the key to a room since there was no one left that cared enough to try and stop her, then found a room to go sleep.
Yukimaru simply nodded to Yukino. "That's all I've done for the past 15 years, zam. I'm as ready as I could ever be, zam. And I must say...it's the only reason I've gone on for so long as well, zam. It is my sole reason for existing at this point, zam." Yukimaru nodded to Yukino again as she left, then simply found a place in the lobby to lay down.

@Dot: Sorry for the late reply, for some reason your post wouldn't show up when I refreshed the page so I only saw it half an hour afterwards...
And you're already gone. Guess I'll leave now too.

Idranel ceased her support. She wavered for a moment, her mind was immensly powerful but she could still strain herself and place herself at the risk of daemons. She clutched her Singing Spear for support and caught her breath before moving on. The board had changed again, it was her turn.

Deep in the city's drainage system, the snarls and howls of the infected echoed through the tunnels, building into a horrifying chorus. At a point where several tunnels connected with each other, they gathered, milling aimlessly about and occasionally clawing at one another. The walls were starting to take on the appearance of an internal organ's lining, with Blacklight viral material steadiy being exuded in small amounts and accumulating i the confined spaces. Soon it would form a nest, alive in itself and capable of birthing entirely new horrors from its own flesh.

On the surface, many of those who had been wounded by the original outbreak were beginning to turn. Some of those who had gone to hospital would be restrained and tied down after attacking other patiets and staff. More would mange to slip into the shadows and disappear, as was their talent. More than a few family homes were discovered blood soaked and deserted, the people inside maimed and butchered.

Idranel skryed the near future. The problems of this place mattered little were it not for the reprecussions that it held. Idranel saw her death, as she did every day, but this death heralded more than her own doom. She would have opened a webway portal to kill a certain individual but she would fail and die. Her warriors would be slain and the webway portal would allow danger to threaten her craftworld before closing. She saw how to prevent this fate and the myriad of fates that this would spawn. She cast more runes to specify the skien of fate. WIth 7 runes at her command she used the Arrow of Kurnous to pin-point a consequence at the far stretches of possibility. Again it was her death, this time her sacrifice to allow the warriors of Ulthwe time to escape. From this point she scrolled backwards to find the events that led up to this and found a plethora of threads of fate, bound and twisted with eachother. Even with her powers it would take time to discern the most likely outcomes.

From the top of one of the higher buildings in the lower city, Mercer stood with his arms folded, smirking as he listened to the bustle of the streets below. Every now and then he could pick out the sounds that indicated the unrest he had sparked. The uneasy murmuring of the people in the streets. A scream as someone was ambushed in the darker corners. The occasional gunshot as someone tried to defend themselves. These last two sounds were becoming increasingly common, and still the military had done nothing. He snorted to himself.
"I should pay them a visit at some point today." He muttered, glancing up at the upper city.

Idranel stopped her scrying and closed her eyes. The one true path was known to her and she took her first step upon it and set the chain of events in motion.
