I know I was a pretty damn good kid (Didn't play pranks, was okay with long distance travels [No "Are we there yet? Now? Now? Now?], only threw the occasional tantrum, spent most of my time reading) And I still gave my parents plenty of headaches to the point where my mom nearly wished she didn't have any kids. School is cakewalk.

While yes, I do kinda agree that school is pretty stupid at times (totally going to be using all those fecking poems and Shakespeare from Lit class, amiright?), having absolutely no schooling would be worse. You'd get guys like this muppet running around everywhere.

Actually, the man has a point. As modern as we are with all of our gadgets they still don't farm, fish or hunt for us.

We still depend on farmers and fishermen to feed us. So saying we 'could' go back to that if not for goverment and laws etc, isn't exactly wrong.

Sure, the modern way of life is easier, but that way of life is indeed more free.

I'm not going to comment on good/bad, just stating facts.

And MPS High Schools... That's the acronym for Milwaukee Public Schools, if I'm not mistaken, and that's one of the most fucked up public school systems in the states. This guy's view is so skewed it's ridiculous.

A big part of the problem is that teaching K-12 tends to pay poorly, rank low in prestige, and demand a lot of work compared to most other professions that require the same credentials (bachelor's to start, master's within X years afaik.) Between pressure from the kids, parents, administrators, and just media/culture/politics in general, it's not an appealing career for most people. So what you get is a relative handful of teachers per school who are passionate enough about the nobility of education to put up with the bullshit... and a ton of teachers who just settled or burned out.

Honestly I feel he wasn't really a teacher, maybe a substitute...at best. Basically this. Is that guy really serious? I can't believe anyone would be so poorly educated, especially someone who claims to have worked in education. Seriously? Let's hope that what he wrote was a joke.

But if he is serious, all I can say is that he has absolutely no idea what it means to live without the benefits of the civilization. As someone who studies archaeology and deeply admires the ancient cultures, I assure everyone that no one should willingly desire to go back and live like that. Even past civilizations are something that would kill most people before the age of 5, let alone the times before we had any cities, laws and governments. And even in the most primitive cultures, there was still education. You didn't learn algebra, but you had to learn how to hunt wild animals and I'm sure this guy has no idea what it means to catch something running very fast only with arrows and spears with stone arrowheads and spearheads. Besides, if he wants to give up civilization, he should give up the internet first. For his sake and for everyone's sake.

Teenagers are not financially independent. That's why they go to school, to gain it. They physically can't support their children, and aren't in an appropriate mental state to look after a newborn child. Claiming that teen pregnancy is a positive thing and should be encouraged is quite a sick thing to say in my opinion.
