About five minutes ago, my RA unlocked and burst into my room. I asked what the purpose of the intrusion was, and he said that my family had been trying to contact me for over a week, and my mother had become worried enough to call the RA.
I, of course, immediately whipped out my cell phone and attempted to call my parents, after a quick *ring* an automated message sounded in my ear "Your account is not authorized to make calls to this number, if you would like to have additional capabilities added to your account, please contact customer service." I then called every contact in my phone, and found that all of them led to the same message.
I then checked the $10 land-line phone of my room, and found that the speaker-phone button was stuck down, effectively leaving it off the hook. I then borrowed the RA's cell phone, and proceeded to call my parents, and tell them that I was alright...unfortunately I got my mother first and she burst into tears of distress and anger, chewing me out before I had a chance to explain.
"We thought you were dead!" She screamed at me.
Fortunately, after she'd bitten my head off,, I was able to ask her to put Dad on the phone, and explained to him what had happened, whereupon we exchanged the usual pleasantries, caught up on everything that had been happening with each-other, and then said goodbye, him going off to help my mother calm down, and to call and "have a chat" with Sprint, and me to write this post.
So, Discussion point:
Have you ever unintentionally dropped out of contact with the people you know? What where their responses?
